I've been hearing rumblings of AI use at my workplace (a gaming company), but nothing yet about replacing jobs/workflows with it. However, they did just fire a number of people to cut costs... they might realize they trimmed too much, and try to replace them post mortem with some AI system.

One other thing to consider is the timing of the emergence of these technologies vis-a-vis the American political environment. Solving questions of regulation, UBI / social safety nets, etc. are basically impossible.
