Any chance you'll be taking a look at the Apex Encore?

James Carron

Agh interesting to hear they may have standardised the components across the range. I saw a toms hardware review that showed the ASUS Z790 Maximus Hero with Vishay SPS'. Maybe they have the main config and Vishay as their second vendor? I've only seen Vishay SPS' on that one board though and when I bought it myself it was populated with Renesas ISL99390's. Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

I think it's just a consistency thing. I think basically all the high end ASUS Z790 boards use the exact same VCCIN and VDD2 configuration so it would add extra support work to run them of the RAA229131.

James Carron

Strange to use RAA229131 which is a dual rail 20 phase controller and only attach 12 phases albeit with teaming. Any Idea why the spare phases werent reused for VCCIN or VDD2? Simplicity of design maybe? I'd bet they started with a 20phase design eg from the Maximus hero but wanted to up the number of phases for marketing with minimal extra work.

Wooooowww that's a seriously insane board! Really wish this wasn't a dead-end platform and had at least some all P-core CPUs...
