It took me ages to savor the whole thing, but was the perfect treat to celebrate finishing my grading & going into Thanksgiving preparations. I love the perversity of a little John Waters at the holidays, so this was really special. The visuals were outstanding, the attention to detail & thoughtful opinions lovely, & it was altogether a great time. So as I sit here in my TV dinner earrings & "Live Fast, Eat Trash" opossum t-shirt, surrounded by VC Andrews books (I always wished JW would adapt Petals on the Wind) & tacky Christmas ornaments, all I can say is: cheers!

I just finished watching - what a well put together video, I can already tell this is one I'll be rewatching many times over in the future. Thank you, this is all good for me to think about. So yeah, the second video tomorrow is addressing a lot of the fallout from Bad Conservative Horror Movies but it definitely hasn’t made me tune out criticisms of me, that’s actually mainly what the video is about. I’d be very down for a charity thing also, I’ve never done anything like that and have no idea how to go about that so there’d be a learning curve, but I think it’s a good idea. I definitively want to use all of this as a platform to improve and come back better than before.

If that first video is Wendigoon/THHE related, then I wish the best Zane. Obviously, a lot of reactions were completely out of line, but I hope the experience didn't encourage you to loose sight of actual genuine critiques whenever they occur. Tbh I personally think this whole situation could've been avoided if more time was spent better explaining THHE 1's themes so there was no room for misunderstanding the thesis, especially among those unfamiliar with the film. It's unfortunate that the franchise video format often leads to moving on from that first instalment quite quickly. On a brighter side, have you thought about doing a charity fundraiser video for Morganton and other post-Helene/Milton communities whenever you have time? I just rewatched the Joann Denton video since it is the season and it kinda inspired an idea for a charity sequel regarding the town's backstory if you're up to it. Essentially you could just talk about other horror or horror-adjacent folklore and urban legends from around your wider area of NC. Like tommyknockers or spooky ghost stories or whatever. Some already got mentioned in the original vid but it's the Appalachians so I imagine there's plenty more. Or do something else entirely different for fundraising if that's not your preference. Whatever it is it would only need to be a casual, lightly-scripted discussion for quick charity donations, so you needn't worry about the usually high production value. Plus, I would like to imagine that it would help earn back goodwill among non-troll critics. And not gonna lie, it would also be kinda funny to watch the trolls try and fail to ruin charity. Let them show their true colours and all that.

I’m making the first video for it right now. It will go live at the same time as the Waters video. I’ll post it here and will post every video for the second channel early on here from now on. I’ve built up like at least fifteen scripts for it already, I’m excited to play in shorter form stuff again for that.

I’ve been worried about that too, but the first video on the second channel is short and kind of addresses the situation. It will be the last time I ever talk about it but I think there will be a lot of people who would be upset if I just tried to pretend this all never happened. Tomorrow will be bad either way lol so I don’t really know what to do there

I'm no expert but maybe it would be worth not advertising the new channel on the main one so it can be hidden from trolls and allowed to grow unhindered by them for as long as possible

It was 9 days before we got power back, thankfully we have a well… but we couldn’t pump it without power. My basement had two feet of water in it but other than getting that cleaned up we’re fine. I’m so grateful, we could have had it so much worse. I agree though!I’m a little farther out towards the mountain, but it’s probably my favorite area too, and I’ve lived in about every little town there is outside of Asheville haha Looking forward to seeing what you’ve made, keep on going!

Thanks! I used to live in Leicester over near Bear Creek Road and it was the happiest I’ve ever been in the area, I loved it over there. I hope all of this wasn’t too bad on you and that you got power and access to safe water quickly. This whole thing has gone on way longer than I thought it would, but we will get through it.
