For the start of ‘24 I’m looking at doing a video on the Joel Guy Jr case which has been frequently requested. Will be starting to get into that in the coming days. End of Jan might be a little ambitious, but I’ll keep you posted. I can’t see it turning into a really long drawn out production though, seems pretty open and shut all around and there’s not an ungodly amount of court footage to review. Keep an eye on the Discord for mini updates.
The other big project will be a patreon exclusive - An addendum to the WM3 video. The idea for that is a much more opinion upfront, vlog/powerpoint style video where I’ll be addressing the case in the first person rather than as the “omnipresent narrator.” It will likely be f***ing long, but much more forgiving on the writing/production front. I’ll be working on it between main projects so I’d probably project anywhere from End of Feb to End of April for that one just depending on how things go with those main projects. Like with all exclusives it will be available to all Patrons.

Anecdote I thought I'd share. In March a movie came out called Black Bag. Pretty good film: it's effectively a whodunnit where the whole cast are spies. Why am I mentioning it? Because the protagonist, played by Michael Fassbender, is supposed to be extremely good at ferreting out when someone is lying to him, and part of this involves operating a polygraph. But one of the suspects uses the 'clenching' technique, and Fassbender knows she's doing it and confronts her about it. If I wasn't a viewer of MOCAS, I probably wouldn't have had any idea what was going on in the scene. Fun bit of movie trivia right there.

Hey Ergot! No release schedule as such. The features just come out when they're ready, but I do get a bonus (usually a commentary) or at very least an update up ahead of each bill cycle to let all patrons know where things stand.

I am one of those who can't wait for the 15 hour power point presentation of the West Memphis Three. I've known about the case for a long time, never looked into it before you covered it. I was in that camp (extremely passively) of the guys were innocent. I actually had no idea how ambiguous it actually is, how polarizing in fact. Keep up the great work mate.

Thank for inadvertently making me realize MOCAS is the acronym for the channel. This took me an embarrassingly long time. I've always heard/thought Matt referred to himself as "Marcus" for some reason.

Excited for the Joel Guy Jr documentary. On the surface, it doesn't seem very different to Chandler Halderson/Grant Amato, but there is one aspect in particular that I think is a bit unique and I hope you pick up on it too!

I always really liked the old timey history lesson of the polygraph that sets the theme for this video. I think little things like that really add something to true crime analysis videos like this.

It has hasn't happened yet with something I've actually taken enough interest in to fully review footage. Definitely has happened quite a few times when I've been starting totally from scratch - sort of pick something up for the better part of a day and then just go "Na, this will come out boring." Very often there's anxiety I'll hit that wall near the start of a project where I haven't found the angle yet. That's why I often "95 percent" commit to a project like Guy Jr toward the beginning, just in case that actually happens. It probably will one day.

But somehow I think it was just happenstance, you’re right.
