A final, final, final thought. I went and looked over the previous chapter and my notes. I thought the marriage was over. Jeremy had withdrawn hand hadn't spoken to Sage in months. That's a pretty sure sign he had moved on, both physically and emotionally. Sage was basically in grief mode, going through the motions of life, missing Jeremy terribly, depressed, listless... but making no effort to contact him, write to him, there were no long letters of apology, no requests. She'd accepted it and was grieving. David, of course, being perpetually clueless, kept trying to fuck with Jeremy, sending him videos and texts, not realizing that the marriage was over. But this might be the catalyst that the story needs to jumpstart the dead marriage. It's been probably months since David has sent a video, just a constant stream of texts along the lines of "Mine now, fuck you." Now he sends a video and it's Theo? That's at least wildly inconsistent with the texts that David has been sending. There's a lot of nuance to be extracted, if Jeremy is of a mind to watch carefully - including that Sage isn't aware she's being filmed; that Theo prevents her from looking by holding her face and neck; that Theo coaches here on what to say; that it might be apparent that she's drunk or at least off; etc. The most inconsistent part being that it's Theo, who Jeremy does not respect at all. Maybe it's enough to make Jeremy pick up the phone and say "Are you fucking Theo?" Or something along those lines. In that case, Sage has a real chance to spill her guts, to cry out her emotions, to tell Jeremy that she kicked David out and hasn't spoken to him in months, etc. etc. Any conversation between them would reveal David's toxic antics to them both, and that might actually do them a lot of good, and allow them to be honest with themselves and each other about David's games even before the break up. Talking about the video, if they get to that, would reveal to Sage that Theo set her up - he knowingly allowed her to be video recorded while fucked and hid it from her. Bad news for Theo. It would also reveal to Sage that David broke into her house and watched and recorded her having sex. How many other times, she'll think, has he been in her house when she didn't know - when she was away, or when she was sleeping. I can't think of anything creepier and more terrifying. Like, time to change the locks, buy a security system, get some pepper spray, have the cops on speed dial, get a gun, turn one of the house's rooms or closets into a panic room. There's a lot of baggage. But if this plays right, it could get them back together.

And the last, last thing - this wasn't great sex for Sage. Minimal foreplay; she doesn't seem to have been into kissing Theo and seems to have avoided it until he gave her no choice at which time she slowly gives in; she's very passive and self-loathing during; she doesn't appear to have reached orgasm; and the whole thing doesn't seem to have lasted very long at all. They were both drinking earlier, Sage definitely much more so. She was definitely shitfaced, which often makes for deadfucking. But Theo's probably had some as well - since we know he was running game on Sage, he was probably careful to get her drunk while going light himself. But he probably had some level of impairment undermining his performance. Another reason Sage is probably going to regret the impulse. And of course, the post-coital intimacy leaves something to be desired if she decides she needs to shower right away, and Theo leaves her to go downstairs (probably for a good reason, to check for David). Definitely a bad sex night.
