Well, brand new player on the scene. Let's try and figure out who this is. Company owner, big dog. I'm assuming that he's married, kids, secure. Boards of Directors, Corporate peers, clients, customers, suppliers, rivals, they generally like to see classic family men at their peer level. Divorcees and widows are fine. But at that level, you have your pick of trophy wives. There's no history or record of sexual harassment or misconduct on his way to the top. That's not a guarantee - look at Harvey Weinstein. Men in positions like that can and do abuse their power. But if they do, word gets around, there's a reputation, a little bit of wariness. Sage is completely blindsided. So I'm going to assume he's not known for shit like this. So what's he doing? Normally, in something like this, you just throw it at HR and let them sort it out. Sage gets fired or let go, end of story. Or reprimanded or cautioned by HR and the whole thing gets buried. There's good reasons for not getting involved. Yeah, the sex thing is hot. But people who are fucked up and reckless enough to have sex in the office, are generally and broadly reckless and that's bad news. First, I think he's had his eye on Sage for some time. He knows who she is, he is well aware of how fuckable she is. She's been eye candy for some time. Second, he might know a little more than she thinks. Sage hasn't been as discrete as she believes she has. She's messed about with a contractor, David, and with Theo, in the office. And at the party at Jeremy's, if he was there, he might have noticed Sage and Theo vanishing, leaving Jeremy to hold the fort. Even if he wasn't there, someone might have noticed and it got back to him. He might have noticed that David visited Sage's office "on business." But there's no actual business that someone like David would have had with someone in Sage's job. He might have noticed Sage taking a whole bunch of unscheduled vacation days, followed by Jeremy vanishing, and Sage being off her game at work. If Theo was as much of a fuck boy as we think he is, he might have blabbed, there might be a rumour or two. Assuming Sage was already on Calder's radar to some degree, ranging from mild interest to active monitoring he might know or suspect quite a bit. Advantage to him. But wait - totally fuckable employee, involved in toxic sexual drama? Why stick your dick into that bear trap? It's still reckless as hell. And guys at that level, they love to think of themselves as Attilla the Hun, bold conquerors. But they're actually pretty timid. So what's this guy doing? The only thing I can think is that he's emboldened by the idea of total control over her. He thinks he can have it, or take it, and the excitement of total domination makes him reckless. He's much more disciplined than David though. He stops when someone knocks on the door. If not for the interruption, he'd have fucked her. But he plays it completely cool. He's not entirely sure of his hold over her, and he requires plausible regular access to her. So the promotion works in both directions, it gives him leverage and access. It makes her beholden to him. The first encounter is a test run. It told him two things. One - she caved in completely and instantly, not even a trace of resistance. David would have to batter her down. But Calder simply bulldozed her both with a surprise attack 'showing her the video', the threat, and non-negotiable demand.
