Brush down, shoes on!
🕑 Added 2024-10-18 16:29:30 +0000 UTCHey fam, it’s approaching race day weekend and I’ve packed my bags and ready to board my flight to race on Sundays Toronto Marathon! So I thought I would get in one last update before I switch my whole mindset to focus on the 42.1km ahead.
Coming in mid next week is the second part of the Stormcast Challenge that focuses on a warm NMM Gold! Building upon the previous skills of reading volumes through careful observations of our photo references, and layering applications. I’ll now be introducing you to more complex shapes found in the more elite armour. Further things to look at with our reference as well as my thought process of “Fake it till you Make It”, creating interesting reflection in our primary as well as our secondaries.
So far many of your participation in this group challenge has been amazing! You guys are taking it a step further than I imagined with the creation and practice of your own light mappings, and of course actual practice on the model. Both with the first dark metal finish, and inspiring initiative to mix up your own colours.
If you’re considering joining but may feel a bit intimidated by the video or the work by your peers. A positive reminder that you have only things to gain by trying and doing your best! Get those values down with the right shape and placement. The blending is that final touch and will get smoother with the simple ingredients of time and practice. And finally continue to share your progress in our Discord channel. The joys of teaching really come forward when I can see your progress and help you reach that Next %!
Alright, that’s it for me before I take off for the weekend. I hope you all have a great time on the brush, wish me luck, and I’ll see you next week!
As a sneak peek to Part 3…

Much love David! I hope so too, but I’m ready for that crappy east coast turn in the weather!
