Nov. Progress Report (and a short Patreon pause)!

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO?
… I’ve been pretty busy with stuff I can’t talk about!
I had such high hopes for working on my “making a video about making a thing” video, but this other unnamed project ate up most of my time in November. I had thought about working hard on the video in the time that I did have free (read: a couple hours on weekends), but I realized that it would hurt both the unnamed project and the video by burning me out, so I decided to postpone the video until I had the correct amount of brain space to devote to it.
I also had to pause my morning Twitch streams due to the scheduling! I will most likely not be streaming again until 2024, because of work and travel and holidays and all the rest of the beautiful, chaotic, end-of-year mess.
Outside of those things, I had a nice Thanksgiving where I made a brined turkey and it turned out pretty tasty and I’m very happy about it.
WHAT ARE YOU UP TO NEXT?
We got ourselves another 20 MINUTE COOKING VIDEO cut by the INEFFABLE JEREMY “NATIVEBIRDS” and it’s VERY VERY VERY GOOD. I just watched the nearly final cut, and I’m so excited for you all to see it. I’m planning to post the video and the bloopers in mid-to-late-December!

‘Cause I’m gonna be doing other things! Traveling! Taking a little vacay! Enjoying the holidays! Hanging out with my fiancée and family and having a good end of the year! And that’s why…
I’M PAUSING PATREON PAYMENTS FOR A MONTH
It’s been an extremely strange year! I’ve had some huge career wins and life events, and there have been strikes and lulls and depressed bits, too. I haven’t posted on my YouTube nearly as much as I’ve wanted to, but I’ve also been able to do cool work elsewhere, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
So I’m taking a (slightly retroactive) month off on the Patreon! This means that you’ll stay subscribed to my Patreon, but your card won’t be charged for this month, starting right now (if you paid a few days ago, that means you won’t pay at your next billing cycle, next month). I have had a few patrons say that they don’t need me to pause payments, even in a month like this, and I want to tell you how grateful I am for that sentiment. I appreciate that so very much.
But this is a PURELY SELFISH DECISION.
I have a brain that feels bad whenever I’m not being productive, even when I know I shouldn’t be. Even if I give myself a “paid vacation,” I always start fretting somewhere along the line and try to film some B-roll or write an idea down so I feel like I’ve done at least a little bit. It sucks.
By pausing the Patreon, I’m telling myself that it’s okay for me to not look at the internet even once for the month of December, and I can FEEL OKAY ABOUT IT. So there won’t be any streams in December or extra Patreon posts, and even though I’ll still post the cooking video and the bloopers in December, those will all be scheduled, and I’ll probably just check to make sure they go up without a hitch before going back to whatever nonsense I feel like doing that day. I’m very excited about that.
As for you all, I hope you take the extra bucks you save from this Patreon pause and give it to another creator who deserves it, or use it to buy a nice coffee, or spend it on a fancy roll of wrapping paper and wrap a gift with it and give it to your best friend and they’ll say “Wow! Fancy wrapping paper!”
I’ll probably do a quick Progress Report for December, so you’ll at least see me poke my head out for that, but otherwise, I’ll catch y’all in the new year. I hope your December is beautiful, and I can’t wait to figure out what new things are gonna happen in the new year!!!

Hoping this comment becomes wrong again but it looks like Patreon have taken out the Community tab from the page and it no longer loads correctly when you type out the URL. Get that it's not the most necessary thing in the world and they discontinued it for new accounts a while back anyway, but still a shame to see it go - I liked seeing what people posted in there, be it interesting tattoo commitments or their arts and crafts in general. Not necessarily an actionable statement, just going "rackum-frackum" at change I don't personally like.
