Need for support depends on a number of factors like size and how long you've been wearing a bra. The muscles and ligaments that support the breasts apparently atrophy if you wear a bra as your breasts are relying on that for support rather than your own body which is also part of why they sag as you get older because there no longer is the natural support present as its believed to not be needed by your body. Similar kind of issue with heels if you wear them primarily then your leg muscles can contract making it physically uncomfortable to wear flats.
