It sucks to forgive someone who didn't actually apologize.
That's not to say you don't forget, but forgiveness can be one of the most liberating things a man can do. And it doesn't necessarily need to be forgiving people either. You can forgive circumstances, experiences, life situations etc... For the latter things although, it's quite hard to forgive something that's not a person and may require a bit of practise as conventionally were only taught to forgive people. But, forgiving can give a spring cleaning effect in your mind and body removing negative thought patterns and emotions which may have even been a part of you for quite some time! It's the only true way to do a factory reset on your mental-emotional well being in my experience. Keeping busy with drugs, alchohol or in other means such as gaming, learning , excersise etc... Is only a temporary fix.
