9:45 Wouldn't that last mode also qualify as a chunk of the harmonic major scale? I'm more familiar with that one than the melodic minor

James Mazzarisi

and I guess the last grouping he raises the 6th back up and the 7th back up to the 13th fret.... gives more of a major feel on the 1st half of the run.

James Mazzarisi

e harmonic minor I think in the second grouping when he hits that 13th fret on the D string. I think all the other groupings are e minor.

Uncle Ben...or anyone that's more smarter than I am with theory...this is probably a phenomenally stupid question, but you mention that it's a fragment of an E minor scale, which I get in terms of notes/intervals. But given where you're playing it...is it also a fragment of G flat/F sharp Locrian? bear in mind...forget home schooling, i have NO schooling in theory....hehehe.

I love hearing these kind of runs, they're awesome. I'd love a theory-centric video going through what defines the Neoclassical style as a whole- typical key choices, common themes and melodic progressions etc. Thanks for all your hard work Uncle Ben
