Thinking about reviving FAQ You

MrTriggerhappy

Hey, are you familiar with Alexi's work in Sinergy?

MrTriggerhappy

I want to go and throw Lost Society onto that list too. Obsessed with the No Absolution album, and some of the shredding feels very COB-esque.

MrTriggerhappy

I feel that. Chugging along on the B is fine, but unless I've already started position on the E or higher, it feels awkward as hell. I assume it's just a muscle memory thing

Dylan

Best riffs of 1986, 87 and so on

Eric James

I think the FAQ U would be a nice addition to the current content. Learn a little more about the Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Sean O

Yes please. Talk about anything: art, home studio, neighborhood, history of Ben Elder... Thanks.

Chris Swartz

Another example...how do I convince my brain that the A string is not the D string and the D string is not the G string and so forth...adding one string with my new 7-string has my fret hand at times arriving at one string and my picking hand on another! I love the guitar and I'm certain it's just a matter of slowly retraining things up there, but good grief it's at times like starting over!

Jeff Hirshberg

Definitely.

Deep Goswami

For example if a progression is a minor g major f major learning how to bend into a chord tone for the next chord to make the solo more melodic

Matthew Cutillo

FAQ me in the ____!!

beaksnout

A quality Monday morning coffee break watch is just what I need!

CJ Lemay

Although I do enjoy these convos... I am more drawn to the nuts and bolts. As an example... the initial guitar solo in the song "Godzilla". That decending lick in there is a bear for me but would like to see how you'd teach it, play it. Just saying...but shit, I watch in full anything you post so I'm a bit of a low maintenance nephew.

Ryan Mcleod

Another vote to bring it back. I always gained new stuff to listen to/artists to check out as a result, so I'm all for it!!

Mark Nietupski

I'd love to see the return of FAQ you!!

kai S

Do you plan to do any breakdowns or analyses of finnish bands like Wintersun or Children of Bodom? I think wintersun in particular would be a totally cool band to checkout.

Felipe Brockmann

I would like to learn how to setup rhythm and lead guitar rigs, I use a AXE-Fx III, I still don't get it how does it works.

Robert Bjärmyr

I'm all ears! A suggestion from my side would be to also pick a single riff from said artist and walk us through it. Viewers and/or patrons could perhaps vote which riff to check out next etc?

Mikael Strom

Please do! One topic I would appreciate is about how you record guitars for your videos. Some (not all) of the videos you've done have great sound. How about explaining signal chain you used for recording and post processing?

Fret Level Midnight

Yes, please do, I loved FAQ You.

Ben Eller

Ooooh you mean THIS riff?! https://youtu.be/alNKjB6LjCw?si=K-lYKLobfgJA7rjo

Saaz Karimi

Change things up. You have a lot of patreon supporters so in my opinion just 2 to 3 questions are going to leave more people with unanswered questions 😄

Paul Sanders

Love all your ideas, I say run with it! No one has really been able to do a proper tutorial on Reb Beach's infamous 'Seventeen' riff, including the use of a a tight digital delay, would love for you to tackle that one, please and thank you! Paul Sanders

Brian Sutich

Definitely one of my favorite series' on the channel. Bring it back!

Chad Ervin

Sounds like a plan! 👍🏻👍🏻

Ben Sartori

FAQ U's are always good Q: what proportion of your time is split between 1) content creation end-to-end 2) practising and noodling 3) gigging 4) personal free time away from guitar and us nerds

Neil DeTuccio

Yessss!

Wes Whaley

I noticed aswell but I'd say the one he used was just ready for live gigs as in no need to unplug and travel when you have something packed and ready to fly

Wes Whaley

Andy wood is doing a good job at live streams don't see why Ben couldn't open up a whole new world. You could also do some sweet vlog type stuff trying new material and gear also very little editing just raw real life to make it easy

Wes Whaley

Perfect

Wahr Wigglin’

Do eeeeet

Wes Whaley

Live streams great idea

Kenny Roscoe

I love the way they are but seeing FAQs as live streams would be awesome I think! Obviously that’s a personal preference for you, but the cool thing there is that you wouldn’t have a video to edit/make, you’d be saving time and answering more questions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jesse J Covey

Ben, how about compare and contrast series between functional (like the Oceans 11) and budget (Joyo Mariana)? Like, how close does Joyo get to that EHX reverb, and is the Mariana a better choice for the price for players on a budget?

Jesse J Covey

My favorites are Meet The Machines, Things x Does and of course, Weekend Wankshop!

Wes Whaley

I'd also like to see videos on budget friendly guitars around $300 to $1400 alot of player look up to gear and also talk about your ideal guitar setup for sure

Wes Whaley

Yeah man bring it back I know shout outs for newer members and the whole relaxed chat vibe is a great treat for us all. Just put your own spin on each episode I know you can do it your also naturaly funny so it will be enjoyable for all

Ben Eller

Dang!! It’s great to see such a positive response to this idea! Toss me some more questions on here, please!

Samir A

My question is have you tried headless guitars and what is your opinion?

BrianT

This is great. The informality is the perfect vibe. Lots of gold nuggets to find in episodes like this!

Don Herrod

I'm 3 1/2 years young trying to learn this instrument. What I struggle with is a practice regime. More times than not, I'm just winging it and not really progressing. I need structure, Uncle Ben! Help!

William Dennett

Bring it back! FAQ you, Uncle Ben! 😁

David Brent

Can’t hurt. Oo rah Sending this from a Cold Moon

Jeremy Graeff

I'm for a return to regular FAQ Yous! The old format is good, but if you deviate from it now and again (more recommendations than usual, or more questions answered, etc,) that's also fine! I'd love to see another installment of Shit *** Does too!

Chuck Saeger

I definitely dig the FAQ you segments. You add a lot of fun to all your gigs and that makes it fun for me!

John Quirus

best practice routine for beginner shredi-knights

Greg Conway

More FAQ you would be great! There are plenty of picking / technique videos, but what about a method to improve accuracy in the fretting hand as far as finger placement, muting adjacent strings and getting that damn pinky under control?

Shahar Bar

Please please please call it FaQ II

Jonathan Fair

Sweet! These are great! Sent you a message, possible lick idea/ explanation.

Johan Alexandersson

Did you ever work any other jobs except being a musician?

Eric Bullington

In your studio you use the UA ox. I noticed at the show the Saturday you were using a Suhr Reactive load. For someone who sux at guitar like my self which one would you recommend?

Eric Bullington

🤘🏻🤘🏻

Gregg B.

FAQin' sick!

Paul Webendorfer

I love FAQ You! You should def do more. Don't have a question to contribute, at the moment. Will give it some thought though. Happy New Year, btw!

RamadanSteve19

Uncle Ben FAQs

Greg Smyth

FAQing amazing idea!

sean sinclair

I was at the skank show last night. Love the new singer. Is he a keeper?

NL MG

What FAQ is this all about

LiveLaughJordan

Sounds awesome!

Paul Dugdale

Ben you used a kemper , did you get a good heavy Marshall’s tone out of it? Ps FAQ yea!!

Matthew Cutillo

You’re the FAQing man!

Jim Hupp
