I think Mark Morton fans out his right hand quite a bit too. I got on a kick learning their riffs a while back, and I found that my fingers were scraping the strings too much if I closed my right hand. Great video Ben! The exercise's particularly holding the extra pick in my hand has improved my picking hand accuracy. I like the Messa band too thanks for the recommendation. I think I hear a touch of early "The Cult" in there as well on the first track Void Meridian. Great sound!

Another shredder that has a pinky finger I’m surprised is still attached to his fretting hand is Andy James. That thing goes everywhere. And speaking of Messa, I just started listening to them as a change from my death metal tendencies, and I love this band. I can’t get enough of “Fire on the Roof.”

Checking out Messa now and yeah, it’s awesome. Would recommend checking out Riverside if you haven’t before, less gothic but has a similar melancholy to a lot of their stuff
