It had its day in the US (1930βs-60βs) though my daughterβs the only one Iβve seen heard of with it in her generation. Esp. popular in the Black community. Most famous Am. Bernices: one of the founders of Sweet Honey in the Rock (fab female gospel acapella) and one of MLKβs daughters, who is now spokesperson for the family.
