Dreamband - Character Creation - Panels 216-223

Originally, our protagonist was going to play as a female character disguised as a male character or he was going to pick a female Slime and show up in a male form, but then I had the idea about him forgetting to reset his character's sexuality settings, and the rest of the story simply fell into place. (The new character from yesterday's spoiler images is a hint about where things are about to go).

I kind of view dreams as biological virtual reality systems: the mind running through a bunch of scenarios to practice what you would do in similar situations. And often in those dreams, you don't realize you are in a dream and everything in the dream, no matter how nonsensical, feels completely natural and normal at the time. So when using the Dreamband and you pick an avatar that's unlike your normal self, your mind is now practicing what it's like to be that other person or being. I imagine that over time, a bunch of it would rub off on you. Playing as a exclusively as a centaur every day might slightly mess up how you walk, but also your spatial awareness when you back up. If you only play as one character all the time, their mannerisms might brush off on you. I'd guess that in this world, it would be recommended to vary the games you play and the characters you play as to prevent this from happening. For the sexuality aspect, that's a harder question. My assumption is that it is a mixture of biological/cultural influences. So a straight guy playing as a straight girl all the time would be attracted to guys while using the Dreamband, and his attraction outside of the game would be pushed in that direction on the spectrum. But different people would have their attractions pushed at different magnitudes, some a little, some a lot. Our tastes can change, but how far they can change depends on who you are.

Less funny when you consider the implications here that this dream is essentially capable of transforming the players into a different person and the potential long term effects of that. Will he be straight awake and homosexual in his dreams? Will he slowly shift to bisexual in both? Will he become homosexual when awake? What if he'd stayed with a female character or one of the fundamentally non-human ones like the centaur or slime? Would he start being a bit clumsy because he thinks he should be a quadraped?

Hah! The struggle of forgetting one slider an hour after committing to a character is real. I once screwed up the nose on my FemHawk in DA2 cuz the creation UI in the game SUCKED on the PS3. Ironically enough, I grew to accept and eventually like her big nose. Funny.

Nope, Fiona was a spinoff from this series with a new cast of characters, but same universe. I think part of the confusion comes from this protagonist and Felix sharing a similar haircut.

Yeah, picking a slime would have been too easy. A slime rogue/assassin would be an interesting character though.
