In Felix original reality, he and Jess are kind of the acquaintance level of friendship as in they are working on a group project together and Jess is helping Felix out with a problem. But they definitely aren't "hang out together" friends.

The university I went to (Kent State University) had lockers in the basement of the student center. I never used them but there were a bunch of them at the bottom of every staircase into the basement so I saw them any time I went down there.
