🕑 Added 2025-08-15 16:31:17 +0000 UTCSo I’ve gotten accused of AI-generating my book, and em-dashes aside, I can assure you the only thing I have in common with an AI is the inability to remember which skills Fabrisse has learned over the course of the book (which has led to more than one instance of harrowing editing). You are telling me the AI can come up with legendary, thought-provoking lines like ‘The pie shop smells like pie’ or ‘It implied he was a dog’! I find that hard to believe.
Jokes aside, I am unreasonably angered. I did not spend close to 10 years writing for my prose to look similar to ChatGPT vomit. Maybe I need to start using fewer em-dashes and stop adding similes to every other paragraph—like a hyperactive bard attempting theatrical gymnastics in print.

Honestly, dude, in the age of AI, I’d take that as a compliment. It reminds me of a YouTube short where a baker realized AI-generated cooking videos were copying her style. She’d been using green cake interiors for years, and suddenly AI videos started doing the same. To me, it was proof her work had made it into the “gold standard” dataset. If anything, it meant she was so good the machine decided she was worth imitating (I subscribed on the spot lol). Personally, I’m not against authors using AI as long as they’re the ones in control—guiding it, fixing its messes, and making the final calls. If you ever trained (or more realistically, pre-prompted) a model on your own prose, pacing, and structure to speed up your process, I’d be all for it. The problem with AI is when it replaces the author, not when it becomes one more tool in their hands. Then again, I do work in the space… so maybe I’m biased. (Also, if this comment sounds suspiciously well-written—don’t worry, I’ve got ten years of training too ;) )

Yo author, u have some of the best prose in the genre. Descriptive, humorous, and unique at the same time without being overdone. Congratulations on getting some haters, means your doing something right
