Funding Goal Met - Character Profiles!
🕑 Added 2023-01-26 20:55:32 +0000 UTCThis month we crossed the funding threshold for a brand new bonus feature: Character Profiles! I'm really excited for this one :D Thank you so much to all of you for making it happen!
The feature is still development, but let's take a look at how it's shaping up:
Under the Memories menu is a new button called "Cast Profiles." Navigating here brings you to a collection of all the major characters' portraits. Let's click on Marion's portrait as an example.
Welcome to Marion's profile! Here you can read a short synopsis of the character, as well as view her sprite. As you progress through Marion's story, more sprites of her transformation will cycle through. Protagonists also have a "Sprite & Concept Gallery," which features the character's concept art and sprite alternates. The player can unlock it by both completing the character's story line and winning her minigame!
Other information we are considering including are some basic stats, a fitting quotation, and more flavor details about each character-- space permitting!

I was trying to make a cycle with pause and skip buttons but couldn't figure out how to code it, so ended up just sticking to the cycle so people wouldn't miss the buttons that show the alternate forms :( We'll try to include all the major sprites in a lineup in the Sprite & Concept Gallery section, or maybe add a button for a separate windowed manually cycleable sprite gallery!

Perhaps players could have sliders or settings for which clothing is being worn or what expression is there? (Of course we can see all these in the sprites folder but it's nice to have a UI for it.)

Would you consider being allowing players to manually cycle through transformation stages as opposed to the auto-cycle.

Hazel is with you from the very beginning, and she's got a powerful presence and strong personality in every story line. It'd be a travesty not to include her on the list!
