the situation between Ambessa and Viktor was never really a control kind of thing, Ambessa saw that if she assisted Viktor he would be able to essentially create an immortal army which she could then use. Viktor believed he couldnt fully get himself to the hexcore/anomaly against all of piltover with just the few hundred or so evolved warriors he had and with Ambessas help it would be incredibly easy and simple for him to complete his task so why not let her help him.

to clarify about vander, it was singed who caused what happened to him in episode 6. the girls forgot about him when jayce attacked viktor, and you can see him standing in one of the shots they show in the end
