Believe are not. This anime is also a MUSICAL. As a theater kids it’s ironically one of my favs and I seen the musical before the anime. The Death Note universe is so wide you’d be shocked.

don't know if you guys have noticed, but Death Note was directed by the same director as Attack on Titan! in fact, this was his directorial debut.

Yeah the show came out weekly on Adult Swim. Unfortunately there were no discussions afterword with groups, at least where i am from. My brother and I watched when we were in middle school. There were so many awesome anime they showed then. I'm so excited for this season!

Seeing a lot of 4's and 0's pop up, first off 40 seconds to write down how they die then 6 minutes and 40 or 400 seconds for the description of their death. Probably making something out of nothing but I just had to share this. Even if it's nothing at all.

Very very excited that you guys are reacting to this one! Death Note was the first manga I ever read (I know, way too inappropriate for a child!) and one of my favourites. The anime does such a fantastic job of capturing everything key to the actual story and covers every theme in the original manga. Personal preference, but I love Death Note over AOT but looking forward to see how you guys feel about this one as we move forward!

i think the only animes most people would suggest watching in dub is this (aka death note), the disastrous life of Saiki K and Uramichi onii-san (or in english life lessons with uramichi onii-san depending on where u watch it ig)

Dub is definition the way to go with this one. Death Note is BY FAR my favorite anime. I have a DN tattoo and everything. Super stoked for this!

I feel like this episode was the one that got me officially on L’s side. I thought Light went to far on the first episode but in the first episode you can kinda understand where he is coming from. He’s kinda like a vigilante, killing only criminals. But in this episode he just straight up kills someone who he thought didn’t commit any crimes and didn’t care. And you see in this episode he kills ppl who has done small crimes as well and maybe shouldn’t deserve to die. And he even killed that fake L, even though he didn’t know he was fake L was a criminal, he straight up killed him just bc he got in his way. He just kills criminals to become “god” it seems like and is completely willing to kill any innocent person who crosses him. Which defeats the whole purpose of his monologue in the first episode about only killing criminals and creating a “new world”. In this episode it shows how he doesnt care who he kills, he just wants power and because he thinks he’s “God” he thinks he is fit to decide who should die and who shouldn’t.

I think it’s great you guys chose Dub for this anime. But not all Animes have this great of Dub voice acting. So if you guys watch another Anime after this I hope you guys listen to both or listen to what most of the audience says. For me, Death Note has great voice acting for both Sub and Dub so I don’t really care which one someone watches and I understand that it’s easier to watch in Dub but keep in mind that not all Anime’s have great Dub voice acting or voice actors that fit the character. So even if it’s a little harder to get all the information, sometimes it’s better to watch the sub for the voice acting maybe for future anime’s. I’m only saying this bc sadly not all anime’s have great or iconic dub voice acting like they had in Death note. Basically, Death voice dub acting is great and fit perfectly for the characters but its sadly not like that for all anime’s. So the next anime you watch I recommend to see what most of the audience recommends on and ask the audience if the Dub is great or not. I just don’t want you guys to get your hopes up and think all anime dubs have this great voice acting. So yes, it’s easier to understand but sometimes it just not as impactful as the original.

Maybe somebody already mentioned this. This show and the first three seasons of Attack on Titan are directed by the same person: Tetsuro Araki. I believe this is why both shows have the information cards at the halfway marks of the episodes; he seems to have carried this style over. At the very least, I haven't seen any other anime that feature this. Just some fun trivia

Yeah thanks for the details, the point is the first 25 episodes of the anime (and whichever chapter in the manga it corresponds to) was the entire thing originally and was supposed to end there

maybe you made another typo, this 37 episodes are based on 108 manga chapters that already finished and concluded. so the source material is already exist. the studio just made this anime true to it's source material. the creator didn't has to write additional episodes because it's already written in the manga.

I totally made a typo, it was supposed to be first 25 episodes not 15 sorry. After that theres is a decrease in quality. Still good though no doubt I'm not saying it was bad, but the episodes went from high 8's to mid 7's in the last 12.

Watching in dub with you guys after watching in sub my first watch. The only thing bothering me is you guys wont get to witness ryuks original voice, i feel like it adds so much expression and humour to his character. I hope you watch a little in sub during your own time to compare at least :)

The original length of the show was 25 episodes. The creator meant it to end it there. Then they basically 'forced' him to write 12 more episodes which was such a shame. It was a cash grab. You will notice the decrease in quality yourself. Definitely what brought it's ratings down and stopped it from being the all time best.

DO NOT compare anything you watch to Attack on Titan, nothing will compare to it. Deathnote is great on its own way, and it paved the way for modern anime. It's the OG

The 2006 Japanese version is actually a good adaptation, they nailed all of the characters cast and style to look exactly like the manga.

They did make several live actions of this. The American (Netflix) version was absolutely horrible. Do not bother. The Japanese movies (The first two came out around 2006, a 3rd came out in 2016 but haven't seen it) were well done. At least I thought so back when I watched them a decade or so ago. They are actually what got me to watch the anime (I'm not big on anime in general). Japan did a live action tv show that I don't remember doing well. My biggest critique, and I think others echoed as well, is that they changed a huge character trait associated with L. I think I only made it 5ish episode in before I tapped out.

If, and I do mean IF they watch the live action, stick to the Japanese live action movies. Those were good, the American version was absolute trash. I also think the live action Japanese show didn't go over very well. I can't 100% remember, but I think it was just okay and I only made it a few episodes in. I think my biggest issue was that they changed L for the show. The live action movies were actually my introduction to DN and is what made me decide to watch the anime.

In the internet says netflix is working on a live action tv show adaptation I think they realized there mistakes after one piece and avatar success and now focus on good adaptations will see when the final product is out

Yeah. Maybe as a standalone movie it could be okay, but having seen the show, this movie was VERY bad. Lets hope a well done Live action gets made someday. They already realized Japan is the way to go. I also heard they plan a Pokemon Live Action to replace Stranger Things as their most popular show after its done.

There is a Netflix live action Death Note movie, but it's TERRIBLE. There are a few live action movies from Japan too. BUT the Duffer Brothers (known for Stranger Things) are doing a live action series in the future. So we shall see how that goes.

actually there is a live action netflix movie adaptation but is very bad from what i heard and i think netflix will make an other live action adaptation and i hope its good but from i can see they have taken there lessons and will do us they did with one piece adaptation and try to get best possible outcome
