A big part of me will always like Light, because I love when people kill bad guys with no remorse but there are things he does that just makes me sad and not like him at the same time lol Like killing Raye that was sad, Poor Naomi.

Sub to you all because I saw Death Note on your reactions. Your reactions always fantastic! I love rooting for villains in fiction. Of course irl I would never support Kira/Light but as for a protagonist that is villainess i for sure do. Sephiroth is my fav char of all time for a reason. I love great characters in fiction doesn't matter if they good or bad. I welcome Light as my new god lol

Oh boy am I glad to catch you guys watching this show. This has been one of my favorite shows for years. I remember watching it when it first premiered in the US on adult swim. And don't get me wrong, this show is dark, but it is also thought provoking and thrilling. There is so much more to unpack from this show, and I can't wait to watch your reactions. This is false a protagonist does not need to go through the protagonist is whoever the author decides bc it’s there story take the tv show and book you Joe remains the same and sociopath killer and a manipulator into the day he is locked up light is the protagonist because the author of the show said he was bc it’s his story

Protagonist means a character who goes through significant change. You can maybe argue that in the first episode but I think he was always a sociopath. He stays the same ruthless person for the whole show.

Sorry to hear that, but all ya'll would be the outliers for all of history. The evidence bears out that women are made for rearing a family, not for the workforce. Light is the protagonist why can’t the protagonist be a bad guy I don’t get why the main character has to be a good guy it makes no sense just to only have a good guy as a main character there is no other main character in the show.

i think it's fine for people to be "rooting" for light because he's a fictional character who i think is well written, but i will say it is very nice to have people just outright say "he's a piece of shit" because he IS! For me personally, he is SO intriguing but I also quickly found myself saying "i hope he dies" after every episode very early on in the series lol I LOVE THIS SHOW

Light is definitely the protagonist, he's just not the archetype protag that we're used to seeing. That's why i love this show!

After what Ray said to Naomi, I was like yeah, I'm okay that he gets taken out. Girl should've toss that hot tea his way. I remember being tricked about the folder because Light disguised the papers. At first, I thought it was pages from the death note until we saw it and it was a box format. Despite Light unraveling, this sequence really highlights how devious Light is. It's only on the rewatch that I realized we're told it's still the death note because Light tells Ray to look at each picture then write the name.

Protagonist and antogonist don't necessarily mean hero and villain. Light is the protagonist in this story because he's the main character - the story starts with him and we follow his perspective (mainly). But he's a protagonist who happens to be morally bankrupt, so he's also a villain. Similarly L is the antagonist of the story, not because he's evil, but because he's the force against whatever the protagonist has going on.

Japan is known for being "guilty until proven innocent" because they have a 99.8% conviction rate and often coerce confessions, so I'm not sure what the creator's intent was having Light kill the possible sex offender at the train station 🤣

Great reaction as always guys! My thoughts on the whole empty room with L deal is it gives his character a lot more mystery when you can’t place his surroundings, and the writers/creators wanted L to be a mysterious guy to intrigue the audience.

Oak went through the same stages as pretty much every one of us 😄 In the beginning you agree with Light... and then comes the god complex and you start rooting for L The show's quite a good study on society

I love that the protagonist of this show is the Villain since early on. It’s such an interesting perspective to see the protagonist be evil and the antagonist, L, be more like the hero.
