Yeahhhh, Misa is such a tragic figure but she's absolutely necessary to really complete Light's image of him being the god of the new world. I love that scene in his bedroom that just highlights the religious devotion she has towards him. The contrast of her on her knees in a submissive position with bowed head while he lords over her and looks down on her in judgement. Then that iconic choir comes in when he hugs her and you can 100% tell what's going on in Misa's head at that time as the object of her worship validates her. She basically acts like a priestess of Kira.

Yeah, this is a cultural thing. In Japan in Korea, people this age will often to to "love hotels" specifically to have sex because culturally they live with their parents until they get married (usually). So everyone there knows what it means when they say "going to a hotel" LOL
