Movie was ok, too slow paced at times though, definitely not a 5 so don’t know why ppl are so upset about that lol. But oak was spot on, left and right, it’s all the same, we have a left wing government here in the uk right now, one I voted for, and they are arresting people for making social media posts. A comedian called Graham linehan, got arrested for making a joke on social media lol. They are also forcing digital ID onto us which nobody wants but they said they don’t care and that we will have to get it. So It’s all the same, left and right, both work to serve themselves, different sides same shit, both as terrible as the other, something Ive come to realise!

Absolutely masterpiece of a film. In my opinion, as someone who has read and is a big admirer of the graphic novel by the great Alan Moore, I prefer the movie. Really hard as an actor and director to convey emotions and make the audience empathise with the character without once showing his face. Hugo Weaving conveyed so much emotion with just his soothing, haunting, commanding and at times, loving voice. Portman as always was great, as were others, especially the ever dashing Stephen Rea.

I've never really payed any attention to this movie but watching it now, man does it hit hard. It is terrible how systems (call them what you like) create situations to make you dependent on them and it kind of choked me up at the end when she activated the train because for some reason it made me think of Jesus. I'm christian but for some reason I don't usually connect movies or tv shows to messages or anything, I have friends that are good at that and connect things very fast but I'm not like that, and it just made me cry. To add to the news of other countries, it hit hard as well because my country (Venezuela) has tried to get rid off this government that has been in power for over 26 years and watching this people walk peacefully and the military doing nothing at the end made me emotional as well because that has happened here, the downside is that the military has killed a lot of people and it's just terrible, there are no words for it. Amazing movie guys, amazing reaction and incredible review!! I'm here patiently waiting for The proposal lol

The name "Mohammed" becoming more popular is not evidence of an issue, it is evidence of an increase in immigration from the middle east. That it is just a dog whistle. Maybe try bringing real evidence instead of popular baby names that scare you. Also please do tell what neighborhoods in the United States police will refuse to go to because they are Muslim majority. Spoiler alert: these places do not exist. Calling any Left-wing government "Fascist" is a misunderstanding of political science. There are many things you could call them or categorize them as, but "Fascist" is not one of them.
Tim Tiernan
Do we know when the YT cut will be available for this? 😊
Marco Gutierrez
Except I never requested they censor comments, I said they should shut the comment section down period. I would imagine they can turn comments off on different posts of theirs like you can on YouTube. Not providing a platform for the inevitable discourse which will inevitably turn toxic is not the same as censorship. Clearly you missed that lesson in school.
Alex
The irony of you requesting they censor comments to avoid what you call "censorship" is not lost on me. Also, users can't censor comments anyway, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Marco Gutierrez
Yeah I'm gonna suggest you guys lock the comment section down on political adjacent content. All it is is a shit storm of people arguing and there's never going to be any peace regarding it. One side will be vocal as always and the other side just won't care, but the moment a dissenting opinion is spoken you'll see all of the trolls crawl out of the woodwork to silence speech they disagree with. The irony of that in a comment section for a movie all about censorship and fascism is not lost on me, but these people have never been the most self aware.
Marco Gutierrez
Without saying what you shared, I can guess most likely what you said and who shamed you. In which case it's always fine for them to shame people based on their beliefs, because they think they're the moral arbiters of the universe. They claim they're all about tolerance and inclusion, but that all stops when you defy them. And heaven forbid you're a minority that doesn't agree with them. You'll see the true depths of their racism, sexism, and homo "phobia" then.
Marco Gutierrez
To Tara, it's always funny how you pope will blame billionaires, but I notice it's only ever SOME billionaires. Elon Musk is a problem, but Zuckerberg isn't. Donald Trump is in the wrong, but Bezos is fine. It seems a lot like it has nothing to do with billionaires and everything to do with what they support. Just like how you people were perfectly fine with Trump right up until he announced he was running as a Republican. Same with Tulsi Gabbard switching from the Democrat party to the Republican party. It's always an us vs them with you people. Whoever your overlords tell you to hate, that's who you hate. Millionaires and billionaires are the problem, but not AOC or Bernie Sanders right? They somehow became millionaires on a government salary but we won't question that. Owning multiple homes is wrong, but it's fine if a Democrat does it. Rules for thee and not for me.
Marco Gutierrez
Fascism is by definition NOT a far right ideology. By definition, fascism is the suppression and silencing of dissenting opinions through force, coercion and blackmail. Like always, you're playing the same semantics game that the left has played for the last decade or so. Just trying to redefine things so that they can't apply to you. "Hey look we can't possibly be guilty of fascism, it's a far right ideology cause we said so and obviously we're on the left! That means we can cancel and silence anyone we want to cause *clearly* we're the good guys." That was sarcasm by the way.
Marco Gutierrez
Immigration is not a small issue in the UK and you're jsut deluding yourself by saying that. Mohammed is one of the most common baby names in the UK for a reason. There's entire neighborhoods in Europe as well as in America where the police refuses to do their job because they're Muslim majority areas and they want to do their own policing. Fascism is actually on the DECLINE and we see this thanks to Trump being elected. People are tired of the fascism which is the Left's only MO since they can't actually offer any solutions outside of just calling all white people evil.
Stephen Hert
Holy fucking shit, bro, it’s not that deep.
Matthew Glover
So you can actually see Hugo Weaving atleast twice in this if youre paying attention,and/or pause the movie. During the interrogation/torture of Evey, twice when V comes into her cell you can vaugely see his face, its easier to notice if you know its Hugo going into it,just the way the brain works. But through the shadow and darkness, you can make out the outline and structure of his face. Just a cool detail for those paying attention. Also when Evey is taken by V,you can barely see the burns on his face through the mask around his eyes. The scene is a only a few frames so its hard to even pause on it,but you can see it vaguely.
Apollo
Haha a DuckDuckGo shoutout from DD. I've switched to using it too mostly because Google search nowadays is useless apart from searching Reddit.

Absolutely LOVE "V for Vendetta." Saw it in the theaters and it totally spoke to what was going on at the time in our world, and funny enough, it does make a lot of sense even 20 years later huh? :). And yes, we should DEFINITELY watch The Count of Monte Cristo.. the 2002 version with Jim Caviezel! I think you'll dig it. :).
Erin Marie
Saw this when it first came out, in imax…it was epic! Love this movie
Steven Warner
That scene totally reminded me of Deadpool
Ben
"Give billions in foreign aid instead of to our healthcare" is a nonsensical statement. Hundreds of billions of dollars are spent on the NHS every year while foreign aid investment makes up less than half of one percent of the national income. Even besides that, its ridiculous to believe that you apparently cannot spend money on multiple different things by saying money is spent on foreign aid INSTEAD of healthcare. If thats the case then money is spent on the military INSTEAD of healthcare and money is spent on infrastructure INSTEAD of healthcare and money is spent on education INSTEAD of healthcare. Also funny that you can somehow blame "left governments" while being from the UK where there has been conservative after conservative led government for the past 20 years.
Kay
There's not really anything ambiguous about which 'side' the film is critiquing. The creator of v for vendetta, Allan Moore, is an anarchist in real life and anti- fascist
Erlacine
Well what you think vs. reality is different 🤷🏻♀️ so enjoy thinking something already stated to be wrong ig
charlie1097
Don’t forget one piece season 1 !!
Kay
Why are you lying? young people's main concern in the UK is not the small amount of refugees that cross our borders as if we don't have the smallest net migration, it's a housing shortage. How are you pointing the finger at refugees who aren't eligible for benefits when the UK government have only built 250,000 council houses since Thatcher was in power? and before that, we built 5 million. That's a fact, so why lie? And we have never had a left government here since Wilson before Thatcher, they have only been center right/far right since
Steve Chase
Still think it's just him keeping his reputation. Sorry
L AH
I don't understand why you're getting mad about this haha. If you think this is a 5, good for you. It's not like he gave it a 1.5. And even if he did, it's his opinion. I actually get him. I rate movies based on how good they are imo (direction, cinematoraphy, acting, story ...) but also how they compare to other movies that I've watched, in general but also with other movies from the same category. I might give a better score to an animation because it's easier, according to me, to hit the right notes compared to a drama for example.
Chavelle
Ngl i came for the reaction and stayed for the comment section 😂
Chavelle
You can’t compare V and puss n boots. He gave a 5 for the category it was in (kid animation). 4.5 is still high for the category it’s in. I like that he’s more reserved with his 5s. Gives variety in opinions.
Badd Medicine
It had more impact than this for me. Entertainment is subjective. Glad you enjoyed this film.
Steve Chase
So you give Puss n Butts 2 a 5 stars to but V you give a 4.5. Wow. Any way you have a right to your opinion
Badd Medicine
Here's a few I have giving 5's to: Megamind, the prestige, Arcane, Squid Game s1, Penguin, AOT, Deadpool & Wolverine, the last of us, Across the spider verse, puss in boots 2, & John Wick 1&4.
Steve Chase
I get it but I've watched so many reactions to movies he's been part of and can't figure out why he NEVER gives a 5. Like I said he does it as an image not reality. He can try and justify his reasoning but I think it's just an image.
Badd Medicine
😂 I thought I was pretty clear on it. It's ok if you and I have different thoughts on a film and the scoring. If you thought it was a 5 then that's all that matters. I didn't and explained it in the review 🤙🤙🤙
Steve Chase
Why can't he ever give a 5. I think this just becomes an image for him. Sorry no credibility with him.
MynamecouldB
Yep every single person here... come on man, that is not true and you're makin yourself the victim. But why share your political opinion unprompted in the first place? Politics on the internet just lead to arguments. Well I guess politics anywhere does too lol
madd_1ec0v
fascism is by definition a far right ideology
Spence
Peak victim blaming here
Fictional
Oak is completely incorrect, as are you, that the film is ambiguous for which political side is in power. The political party that Adam Sutler leads is ultranationalist, imprisons (and murders) gay people, immigrants, and anyone that isn't Christian. The BTN tv station in this film is heavily inspired by Fox News. There is absolutely zero question that the bad guys are far right conservative fascists.
Artem Dmytrenko
Love this movie. It's that kind of movies that you start appreciate more over time.
Angel Griffin
Phaha relatable I always fast forward to the scores before watching the movie and I don’t know why😂
Sammy
Still one of my fav movies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bloop
Facism is only really on the rise a lot in Europe because the left governments cant control their borders. Hence why like most young peoples main concerns is immigration and being able to afford a home. Where I'm from in the UK its on the rise because our government cant control our borders, call regular people far right for not wanting Illegal immigrants then give billions in foreign aid instead of to our healthcare. Sadly left governments have done this to themselves.
Ryan Bellefleur
Almost every single person in here is making indirect threats or hateful comments towards "how things are in america today" or people for having a differing belief.. a belief system that was seen as the majority when it came to public opinion especially when it comes to government control and oversight. Yet every single one in here has just called me names, labeled me or attacked me.. accusing me of exactly what you are being.
Ryan Bellefleur
So much for being inclusive eh guy lmao 🤣
JHow
Sadly a message a lot of us have forgotten or never even paid attention to in the first place. You just have to look at the current state of the world. It's really sad to see how history is repeating itself over and over again. Facism is on the rise once again everywhere, not just in the US. There are gonna be votes in my country very soon and the facist party has a worryingly high amount of votes. Most people sadly are just too willing to let fear and anger take control of them, and flock to everyone who loudly enough promises them a feeling of safety - even if their actions show time and time again that that's the farthest thing from their minds.
TexasSnyper
Only for dumb beliefs 😂
Spence
Let's not 'both sides' this. It is incredibly disingenuous. Though I agree that culture wars are there to distract us from class wars
Ro6ueFour
I don’t care what side you are on. This is a movie reaction to a movie that is not showing what is happening today. I don’t care about what you think politically. This is the reason the country is so divided. People are both sides think they are 100% right. Maybe just have a fun time watching people react to a movie.
Crispin
Hugo has one of the best voices in Hollywood period.
ImaKatPerson
Maam I will have you know that, as a queer woman, I do indeed have skin in this game. It’s the assumptions and stereotypes like these that further this “us vs them” mentality. No room for nuance. My comment isn’t exclusive to merely the present time and place. Leftist fascism has indeed existed (Stalin, Chairman Mao, etc.) and it’s important that in the avoidance of fascism from one side of the spectrum, we don’t run blindly into the other.
Gage Eakins
I'm sorry but it really is. Also it is only ambiguous if you aren't paying attention. Adam Sutler was a member of the British conservatives before he started his extreme right wing party.
Fictional
No one asked for your beliefs, numbnuts. You shared them unprompted. If you didn't want criticism towards your idiocy, you should have kept it to yourself.
Fictional
A Canadian trump supporter. Jesus christ. You are genuinely lost.
Steven Warner
Never seen this, fast forwarded to the scores (sorry not sorry) def checking it out this weekend 🤙🏻
Tara L
The real enemies are billionaires, and they're bankrolling Trump though. How can it be a both sides problem when it's openly one side and all of their supporters are cheering it on, specifically because it's their "team"? Politics nowadays is so bad faith. I've noticed that people who say it's "both sides" only have that stance because they have no skin in the game, they think they're safe because they aren't "one of those LGBTs", and they don't realise that by the time they're targeted and personally effected, it'll be too late.
Magda Ch
I had forgotten how good this movie is! I hadn't seen it in a while! How amazing that you enjoyed it 🙌🏼🙌🏼
ImaKatPerson
Extra agreement with Oak about how great it is that the movie left ambiguity for which political “side” was in power. The pendulum swings both ways folks. Fascism isn’t exclusive to the left or the right. Already seeing division in the comments section, missing the entire point of the movie that only TOGETHER can society combat evils like this. Calling people cultists and illiterate is only going to keep us distracted from the real enemies and plunge us further into the dark.
Maisie
Trump and Project 2025 are trying to control or abolish the rights of U.S. citizens (see 14th amendment), the rights of women (right to choose), the flow of already distributed federal grants to nonprofit organizations, the spread of information (see CDC and Climate Change data being removed from govt websites), and even the language we use. Bezos is censoring the Washington Post, the White House tells constant lies, and our checks and balances are falling like V's dominos. Saying that Republicans are AGAINST government control is absolutely laughable.
Denisse Brito
I was born on November 5th at midnight, and I have this tradition of watching this movie every year from the 4th to the 5th. It's one of my favorite movies, and I get to quote it when people ask me about my birthday. 🤣 I loved this reaction guys ❤️
Javier B
@spence well said 👏 😎
Esmi
Loved the reaction guys! I totally agree about the bad marketing for this film. I’m a prime example of it. I was 12 yo when I saw the tv promos for this & I thought it was going to be an action packed superhero movie 🤣. I annoyed my mom all week to go see it in theaters (she immediately regretted it for the first scene alone 😳) , and I was just there, sitting in my seat utterly bored 🥱. Didn’t appreciate it back then, obviously & was so over this movie that I haven’t rewatched it until today. Wow, was I wrong! 😅 The themes, the ideas it makes the viewer consider throughout and after the film is over. I was shocked. Brilliant film! Can’t believe I’ve been avoiding this gem for 20 years now 😖. I just wanted to thank this community for pushing this film, bc I honestly wouldn’t have ever gone back to it. Thank You! & Thank You, you wonderful gents for this 20 yr. rewatch 🫡
Charles Grimes
There are two films (that came out nearly at the same time) that go together in a very odd way. V for Vendetta… and Idiocracy. Both (in completely different ways) offer a warning about the future. If you guys havent seen it yet, I highly advise Idiocracy.
vertebra
yessssssss
Javier B
LFG. One of my favorite movies ever! Great timing too
Miya
Love this film so much!! Glad you all are watching, but might sit this one out because it’s feeling more like reality these days. Love you guys - enjoy! 💙
Megan
Such an amazing film that took me YEARS to finally watch, and have since watched numerous times. I think my first time was like 2-3 years ago because I was bored. Prior, the only thing I knew was the line "remember, remember, the 5th of November," and Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up parliament. That's all I remembered from the very brief lesson on it during U.S. history (when we start with British history first) in like 6th/7th grade. As for the mask, I only knew of it representing the hacker group Anonymous. My mind was blown after seeing this movie and being able to put everything together. Such a relevant movie to the awful times we now live in. Hugo Weaving did an excellent job and his "V" speech is a masterpiece! I know James Purefoy was originally cast, and as good as he is, I think Hugo was the perfect choice! Also, I'm glad Constantine is on your list, another amazing movie! I still remember seeing it in theaters.
Miya
@spence Indeed. It’s clear that some people are going to use this comment section to say things that get them attention. Just a quick reminder to folks reading that the block button exists. Protect your peace. 💜
Ryan Bellefleur
Sorry what is this movie about again? to inspire a revolution among the populace? To fight back against government control? I'm sorry who won the electoral AND majority vote be the will of the people? Campaigning on cutting government control and oversight? You guys are truly lost.
Spence
What point? That you lack media literacy?
Ryan Bellefleur
Is it normal to shame someone for their beliefs in this comment section now?
Ryan Bellefleur
You're just proving my point even more.
starstrucker
Im hyped! Just got home from work and ready to watch along!
Spence
Found the cultist
Ro6ueFour
Haven’t seen this since my dad showed it me when I was a little kid. I’m hyped!
Ryan Bellefleur
As a trump supporter and a Canadian who is very jealous as to how Elon Musk is cutting so much government control.. I find we will see major hypocrisy in this comment section arguing against The exact point of this movie. Cheers 🍻
Stephen Hert
Such a GOOD fucking movie!
Matthew Glover
LFG!!! been waiting on this one for so long from you guys,im so damn curious to see what you guys think of this one. All time great movie in my opinion. Also one of the most quoteable movies, the dialogue is so damn good.
Kaley
What a powerful film to watch, especially now with how things are in the world!
Alyssa Dyson
Cant believe ya'll never seen this 👀 lets goooo 💜
