Episode 27: Game Design Masterclass (w/ Jason Matthews)
🕑 Added 2020-08-12 09:05:36 +0000 UTCI'm very pleased to present this discussion with modern game design legend Jason Matthews, who's work includes 1960: The Making of a President, Founding Fathers, and Sola Fide, not to mention what many consider to be one of the greatest board games ever made, myself included, 2005's Cold War grand strategy masterpiece Twilight Struggle.

Reteaming with his Twilight Struggle design partner, Ananda Gupta, their latest design was released by GMT Games earlier this summer: Imperial Struggle, which covers the history of another great power rivalry, that of Britain vs France during the 18th century.

The game is available now, and you can also get the digital version of Twilight Struggle on Steam, which I highly recommend you do.
This discussion was a real treat for me, and we got to talk about the history behind the games, games as models, their educational possibilities, Buckminster Fuller, just lots of great stuff all around. Hope everyone enjoys this one.
