Nate isn't manifesting a harsh attitude because he's seen it be rewarded in the past.

I honest-to-god love the way Sharon Fieldstone so gently, but FIRMLY, enforces her boundaries against Ted. I love Ted, and I honestly think he'd be a fun guy to know, but he also tends to roll over people while trying to win them over. And something I find infuriating is when fiction portrays that as a good way to treat people, and anybody who doesn't like it is a stick-in-the-mud. So her setting boundaries and sticking to them is wonderful to me, since sometimes Ted IS too much and it is okay to say "This is my workspace, you need to respect that". Regarding Nate, I'm gonna point out that the only things that got him praise in season one from anybody besides Ted were anger and violence. He got a "good lad" from Roy when he elbowed a window and broke it, and then when he roasted the whole team before the Everton match. He also saw Isaac promoted to "Captain" by Roy after smashing the TV (Where Roy explicitly told him to keep breaking TVs). All along, Nate has seen hostility rewarded and approved by everybody around him. Is it any surprise he's manifesting it more?
