This was not a reaction I expected to see y’all do, but it was great. I had seen Sweeney Todd while it was on broadway about a year and a half ago and it was phenomenal. My favorite musicals of all time. The musical on Broadway is so different from the movie adaptation, still a very dark and twisted plot, but surprisingly it’s more of a dark comedy.

As a Brit, it always surprises me when someone doesn't know the tale of Sweeney Todd, it's a well known story over here. I have to watch the gorey parts from behind my fingers, but otherwise I really enjoy this musical. Great reaction guys! I do recommend you guys check out Les Miserables and Moulin Rouge too!

I love that you watched this. Maybe we should have warned you it was a horror/tragedy type of story haha. My high school put on many musicals and this was one of them. They made a functional chair, slide for the bodies and all. I can't think of any other movie or show that displays someone's descent into madness as well as this one. Having the story abruptly stop like this is fun to me. The main character is gone, dead, and the story ends. But he accomplished all his goals and then was also removed from the story as he became just as bad, if not worse, than the antagonists. I have seen this movie several times now and I always end up reflecting on how different than any other show I have seen--- and then I have slightly horrifying dreams that same night- so I have that to look forward to now haha.

First time watch for me, which is surprising as a fan of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, gothic stories, and musicals. I've known about this film and just haven't gotten around to watching it. What I knew going in was "killer barber" so I was shocked to even discover that this is a musical, and that there's also ✨️cannibalism✨️ lol. I really enjoyed this movie. Everyone was so unhinged, the lyrics had me like 👀, and the end was tragically poetic. I'd give it 5 answers too MQ and I already rewatched it today so I could make my husband experience it too lol. Depp kept reminding me of his other characters like: Edward Scissorhands, the Mad Hatter, Jack Sparrow (especially when he told Toby to get some gin) lol. So that was fun pointing out the looks, mannerisms and tones, but I told my husband, after that kill, the anger in his voice and the song about wanting to kill everyone, I was like ahh, well that's just giving Sweeney. Felt like a new character then. Good watch, I'll have to get my sister to watch it sometime because I know she'll love it too lol. Also, like I said, only my second watch but I started singing Johanna with him lmao.
