This takes me back to my childhood, especially with all the references to new Orleans/LA culture. My moms side of the family is heavily from Louisiana. When this came out it was the only representation to black princesses in Disney, and even though I wasn't into all that, I felt represented.

I remember seeing this in your upcoming but I was away for a couple weeks. Finally got to watch along. I knew you all would really enjoy this one. It's one of my all time favorites. Yes the music is great, the story is great, the humor is great, The voice acting is great, the animation is great. And poor Ray I've seen this many times I'm in my 50's and I still get a bit choked up with Ray becoming a star next to his love. What a great film.

Did not care for this movie when I watched it before. The storyline felt weak to me and the characters underdeveloped.

No but i was a child myself. But i agree about the frog 80% of the movie part but it’s still my top for the significance it had and story telling. Also the real woman is a gem.

I don’t have issue with his voice but I think they tried to make him arrogant but charming and likeable yet (to me) he just comes off as an arrogant jerk and really lacking likability.

This movie is good, not excellent, not horrible. It loses points for me by having the first black Disney Princess a frog for 80% of her movie. 😞 Disney’s like: “we’ll give you a black girl as your princess BUT she’ll be a frog for most of it” On a somewhat lighter-ish note, after this movie came out a bunch of kids went around kissing frogs and if I remember correctly Disney had to put out a statement cause kids were getting sick 🫨 Does anyone else remember hearing about that?

This is my second watch and I just can't get into the movie. I think my biggest issue is I feel like Naveen's voice actor was miscast. Something about him just makes me annoyed whenever he has to speak.
