Now that you guys have watched this, I can say that personally, I much prefer 5cm Per Second and Garden of Words. However, I seem to be the only one that prefers that over all the other Makoto Shinkai works. So I'd recommend you guys to check that one out at some point. Just basically put all of his films on the list they're all great. The subs were kinda bad on this because when he's at the God's location he specifically only refers to Mitsuha as "that person" but the subs say Mitsuha which confusion for all of you. Made it seem like he remembers her name when he actually doesn't. I haven't seen the English dubbed so I wouldn't know how well they handled localisation of things like this. Or that scene where Mitsuha uses 4 different gender/class based 1st person pronouns on her first meeting with Taki's friends. I feel like it wouldn't translate well since there's nothing like that in English. P.S. Nice throw of the board duster straight to the dome and revenge throw ending cut off.

Great reaction, guys! To answer a few questions, I've looked up kuchikamizake when Your Name first came out. Yes, that making of sake is real, though not common way of making sake. And it's not made for drinking really, as it was in the film, an offering to the gods. The braided cords, or "kumihimo", and its making in the movie is also real.

I also think it’s amazing how anime often uses those little reflective pauses, like focusing on everyday details. You noticed the repeated shots with the sliding doors, that’s so true! It’s not necessarily symbolic, but rather part of that reflective cinematography style. Sometimes it’s just a still shot of something ordinary, like a sink full of dishes with the sunset light coming through the window.
