If Jessy was in PoH she'd be a succubus, not a gargoyle! Yeah keeping downtime lean is definitely something a lot of screenwriting insists on, but for novels, especially long series, downtime is my favorite stuff.

If I had a nickel for every time Novus Animus wrote a character named Jes with a pushy, rough-and-tumble personality but hidden romantic and emotional depths, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened twice ;) All jokes aside, I really enjoy the slower paced chapters. I've heard that at least in the show-writing space, "downtime" is kept pretty lean so viewers don't lose interest in the driving conflict, but I feel that PoH benefits from these breaks from the insanity.

Clever how in a chill chapter you manage to feed us nuggets of info between all the sex. What's with Jes? She seems always the last to be fucked and there is no description of it.
