Hello, everyone! I hope you're having a great close to your October! 👻
I fully intended on doing Riel's interlude this time, but I didn't believe I would be able to finish it in time for the month, so I held off on it for next time: I didn't want to start it and leave it halfway finished for the update, nor did I want to cut it off prematurely in order to be able to post everything in time for the update, so that'll be posted next time! Instead, I decided to dash off the next Caine interlude, which I always think of as a quick, easy, light-hearted jaunt compared to the more serious character arcs of the other characters... But it was not so this time! It seems Caine has other ideas. Enjoy the parental/big sibling anguish over the course of his life! :D
October is always a busy month, especially since we try to squeeze in as many season-specific activities as possible (I love Halloween), but I don't quite yet feel that I've had my fill of the 'weeny activities yet. We made a dash up to Seattle for a week to visit family and got to enjoy the fall leaves up there, and went to a friend's yearly costume party/LARP/murder mystery party (I was a cow. I make a very excellent cow. Also the cow was a god in disguise but everyone insisted on treating me like I was still a cow), but I want more! I'm hoping that a visit to a Halloween-themed cocktail bar this weekend will scratch that itch (+some Mario Party with Halloween candy), but we usually go to a haunted house or a farm or something. 🥲 Oh well. Maybe that's why this update isn't very spooky, either! 🤣 At least the update to Prihine's short story should be! What do you guys do to get into the Halloween spirit? Are there any scary movies or traditions you do to get into the spirit of things?
Despite the usual busyness (compounded by my fiancé injuring his leg on our trip!), I think I've made good progress on things this month! I figured out some new methods that will make rapid progress on the Twine conversion moving forward, and am hoping for that to be complete some time in the new year. I got to rework a bit of my new novel and am feeling much better about it, though I still wish there were more hours in the day to work on it more consistently (lol). (But I am taking your guys' advice to take it easier and rest where I can!) And we finally found, interviewed, and booked our wedding photographer!!! Yay!!! That was a big thing to cross off my list! But of course, as soon as that was done, my mind turned to not only the next things, but also things that have no business taking up space in my mind, like where we should go for our honeymoon... 🙄 There is such a thing as too much thinking and planning, lmao!
Other than that, it's pretty straightforward from here. I hope you'll enjoy the new interludes!

What's Next:
Aside from Riel, I'm actually not sure who I'll do next for the character interludes! I want to chip away at them a little more before I tackle the Ascendancy Festival, which I'm still trying to wrap my head around: will you guys be okay if I have to update that in parts? Like the festival with Blade, Trouble, and Tallys, Shery, Riel routes done one month, then the next five another month, etc... If you can believe it, most companions are only one or two interludes away or are now fully CAUGHT UP to that part, which happened way faster than I thought! So we are very close to starting on that, and from there, embarking on Chapter 10...
But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, it's a matter of seeing whose arc will catch up to the festival first! I figure I'll take a litmus test and see what you guys are wanting in terms of the next character interlude; results here are NOT guaranteed, and are more for a 'survey' rather than a real determinative vote, but... whose interlude do you want to see next?

Yes, the Tumblr tags should have good info to help you! Getting the gladiators to join is complicated--you need to deliberately toss the fight to Nathe, defeat the wvyern, and Tovrik has to die somehow. If you're still having trouble and you think you've done all these things, you can either try using the quickbuild to skip to that chapter or clear your cache: it's possible some of your save variables are crossing over from other files if you've made a lot and they're sored in your browser, but I'd definitely recommend trying the other ways first!

Hi there MissMitsuko, while there isn't an outright guide, there's a lot of good information that should help you in the "Chapter 2" tag on Tumblr: https://www.shepherdsofhaven.com/tagged/chapter+2 You need 40 or more magic in order to be able to defeat Clochus without a Word of Power! If you're having trouble getting your stats to that level, checking our discord here might help: https://discord.gg/ctcGpqd69b Some quick recommendations would be to choose a background with high education (like being Circle-trained), training your magic on every day off, and using your magic as much as possible whenever presented the option, including when looking for the kids in Chapter 1 or firing an ice spell at Chase if you pursue him. Hope that's helpful!

Omg I love this update! Poor, poor Caine.... I went with the middle ground because like Halek, I know if you push a kid too hard, they are way more likely to rebel against you, especially a kid with gumption, like Caine! Once again I am dining in these Trouble and MC co-parenting crumbs 🍽️

Same with not feeling like I’ve hit my Halloween Things Quota! We went to Maine for a week to get our fall fix and see some of my fiancé’s old haunts from when he spent summers there at his grandparents’ but we missed all their local Halloween events which I was bummed about! Still searching before the 31st comes and goes 😮💨 Both interludes are SO fantastic, I love how invested everyone is in Caine’s future 🥹it is very hard to share custody with 12 other people+his actual parents 😔 AND NOT AYLA “OOF”-Ing HALEK naur 💀 ((also to do my Chase simp duties:after I saw the non romanced and the romanced options for the choice to say “I fear the day either of you become fathers” -true or false Chase only wants kids if they’re his and romancedMCs 🥺🥺 )) I loved this Lavinet interlude too,she is her own brand of ride or die that I LIVE for. Her lavender hair finally yay!!! 💜 Anddddd Ascendancy Festival on the horizon??? 🙌🙌🙌 We’re spoiled. Thank you for another fabulous update Lena you’re a freaking star.
