WW

Interesting changes to the chapter! Wonder what the addition of Rees's actions will result in.

Akel

I thought that too, but with how fast things went from "what are they doing?" to "OH NO WE ARE DE--" they didn't have the chance/time.

DA_Johan_Bishop

Great chapter! I just noticed that battlecruiser Weisser Sand is probably Anakins worst enemy.

Swinter

I'm only surprised that no-one is surrendering. Fighting to the last seems... Highly unusual in most cases. It makes it a bit too easy for Rain to eradicated everyone while still seeming "good enough". It would have been different if they hoisted a proverbial white flag.

Kieran Hosty

Still, absolutely fantastic battle. You just gave yourself a hard fight to top.

Kieran Hosty

Absolute satisfaction. NGL I would have liked to Alrix captured if only to see the reaction of someone so reliant on the force have to comprehend someone outright denying it.

Trailblazer

What an amazing battle! It's satisfying to see Alrix and her Force capability to be utterly outdone by Rain's skills and spite.

Volker

Amazing

One_of_U

This was epic, we finally got the cuffs off Rain, and it was so satisfying.

Mad Max

On the other hand, for propoganda purposes atleast, it wasn't the Confederacy that started glassing planets first.

FuschiaKnight

Sure, but Trench made Tann aware of what kind of commander Ambigene was basically immediately after she contacted him. He was well aware of what Ambigene would prefer to do before he did it; if they wanted to they could have ordered “no BDZs” like a minute after Tann gave him the order to start.

Enkelados

????

Jon.

what? if someone walked into your house, killed half of your family, but then went "oh, oops my bad" and stopped you would go "thank you"?

Jmc mc

And the hype was worth it, awesome chapter I loved the organic strategy propagated by nested simple orders it was amazing.

Nick Ramsey

Yeah. I feel sad for Rees Alrix's death. Didn't seem to be a bad person. The civil war will be horrendously messy. At the same time, pushing Dooku to unveil himself is part of what Bonteri needs. Will Palpatine be so enraged that he make tactical mistakes? I would love it if somehow Anakin's full fall were averted. Though little in Bonteri's opinion of Anakin has indicated that's likely.

Nick Ramsey

This chapter is competitive as the most tactically brilliant fight I have ever read. Good characters and heart, too. Tremendous kudos.

Gabriel Clark

You know, I was halfway expecting the Jedi to try fleeing only for her to ram into the debris cloud of the Repulse.

CB-Otaku

Man, Rain whipped out that Tasmanian Devil strat...

Enkelados

I mean the other three millions would be kinda glad he stopped I reckon.

Jon.

It's moreso that by the time an order would arrive to stop, it would be useless. Imagine if Hitler stopped the holocaust at 3 million jews or something similar, nothing would change in the public perception of the event besides having millions of people who desperately want revenge.

KnightofTempest

Not neccesarily. Remember, Dua Ningo did that on his own recognizance without orders. It's possible that should Palpatine get unseated from his position by Plo Koon and Co, that might be enough reason to try a negotiated peace again. Eriadu, on the other hand, doesn't have that excuse.

Chad Champion

🤣🤣🤣

Chad Champion

That was already the case after the Coruscant attack!

EnderScroll

Rain got his Geneva checklist out.💀

Cesar gonzalez

This space battle was beautiful to read. Has to be one of the best I’ve ever read.

KnightofTempest

Glassing Eriadu is a mistake. Now the only way the Republic sues for peace is by total victory. There's going to need to be boots on the ground on Coruscant to win now.

FunnyHats

The republic at this point is doomed. The three big questions that remain are if the seperatists seperate, if the sith survive, and if the jedi survive.

Bishop7053

I don't think I have ever read s space battles as amazing as this. Naval officers are gonna be cursing his name for centuries. The republic has to hate bonteri with the force of a thousand suns. Definitely need an anakin pov next to see how he responds to that graveyard and erandu being glassed

Maximus

This was a marvelous battle. I think I needed this show of absolute superiority. Rain being like a chained beast let loose by Sev'rance's orders. Alrix being absolutely powerless in the face of this offensive.

FuschiaKnight

Also, should "But first, he had to safely guide his ship out of the whirling death spiral. Thankfully, he was a Muun, and navigating the volatile economic situations and opportunities was much easier than this. " instead be "harder than this"?

William M.

"But first, he had to safely guide his ship out of the whirling death spiral. Thankfully, he was a Muun, and navigating the volatile economic situations and opportunities was much easier than this." Shouldn't it be the opposite? Navigating the volatile economic situations and opportunities being harder instead of easier? Don't really understand the point of the second sentence otherwise.

FuschiaKnight

I may be misunderstanding, but it seems like it was a bit of a gamble, that each head of the hydra would be positioned such that they were able to spear through the Republic formation in the precisely correct manner, and with the correct ships at the correct time--or did Rain have those orders specifically activated on his command when he saw that each division flag was positioned to act accordingly? If so, then presumably he tried to leave enough room for error that each head had the time to intercept from wherever they were in the formation. Then, the only iffy case might be whether Greyshade and Kronprinz chose to follow Ventress in Dark Rival--he might not be positioned to cut off the Republic formation if Kronprinz had ended up following Havoc or Chimeratica (or if not enough Tionese warships were behind him, they might not be able to keep up), or if any of the division flagships ended up in the wrong head of the hydra, unless the orders were arranged such that the Republic fleet would be cut to pieces by any of the hydra heads coming from any of the directions. Also, if the distress signals were senderless, did Rain, or perhaps the locals in Sullust pick them up? It might be somewhat out of character for Rain "chapter and verse of the Yavin Code" Bonteri to blow up escape pods, but he was also in a rush and wanted to keep things quiet, did he not?

Maximus

This was a great chapter. A truly great one.

Akel

I forsee a disaster for the seperatist in the form of being victims of their own success. Palpatine is going to be infuriated, Anakin will be on a crusade of vengence, the jedi council will be reeling, and Dooku will be hell bent on taking out Tann regardless of keeping up appearances or political fallout.

Enkelados

Apparently I missed that chapter. Nice, two chapters at once to read :)

FuschiaKnight

Looks like Rain has earned his own nickname among his foes: "The Hydra". I wonder if any of the other fleet commanders we've encountered so far have such nicknames--we know that Anakin Skywalker is "The Hero With No Fear", Obi-Wan is "The Negotiator", Tann is "The Pantoran". What about Trench, or Calli Trilm, or Plo Koon, I wonder.

Vg7

Superb scene! Really curious to see how Anakin will react when discovering Bonteri s victory

FuschiaKnight

The orbital bombardment of Eriadu lasted for 5 days; at any point, Trench or Tann could have ordered Ambigene to stop if they had actually wanted to, up to and including immediately after Tann gave him the orders to begin Operation Storm-Door and Trench let her know that Ambigene was going to go in hard. They didn't, which suggests that they were fully on board with Trench giving Eriadu the Base Delta Zero treatment.

JJ

Mistake in second to last paragraph. "completely annihilate their Rees Alrix’s fleet." Should just be "annihilate Rees Alrix's fleet."

Kana

This was amazing. I really loved the chapter. The detail of Alrix not being able to remember Rain's name, but remembering his title is so big, so so significant too.

will shumway

Great work! Love to see it all coming full circle

Null

Thanks for the chapter Correct the word "currency" to "currently", must be autocorrect.

JAMAJ

Heart is pumping right now. Great chap

Ryo5678

The most fun space battle I have ever read.

NyaaMe0w

I was kinda hoping Rees Alrix would somehow survive, she was an interesting character. But that's war I guess, looking forward to the the raid on the core.

elsicava

So it turns out I can't count to five lmao. Fixed it. Havoc is now the fifth.

Joshua Graham

Man, reading this chapter was really satisfying!!!

Cosimo Yap

A beautifully orchestrated battle! Also, "currency" should be "currently"

Mrsean22

OK Rain basically did something many would consider impossible without the force and actually pulled it off. Hydra is right. Rees Alrix was fun seeing in action and her death probably gonna hurt the morale of the Republic. Rees Alrix fleet were veterans so another big lose. Military officers and schools gonna look at this battle like crazy and wonder how Rain pulled this off. Rain also giving respect to Plo Koon who does deserve said respect.

windoverwaves

Holy shit that's awsome. Columex is a great triumph of unconventional use of the battlefield, but 7th Sullest? It's a masterpiece of coordination and timing, students thousands of years from now would be cursing Rain's name for all the bloody work he created for them. Does the Kronprinz count as one of the hydra's heads, or is she part of the first, which I assume would be the Chimeratica? Also, rest in peace, R classes, you did good. Amazing they stayed together the entire time.

TwoJacksAndAnAce

Wow I hope to see Anakins reaction and thoughts when he gets to Sullust.

Mad Max

They put the wrong man in charge. It's explained the previous chapter.

elsicava

It happened last chapter?

Enkelados

No they were given orders to, but when they arrived it was already destroyed by alrix force.

Enkelados

Why are they glazing eriadu? I wouldn't have expected that escalation.

elsicava

Yeap. I could hardly keep track of the battle as I was writing it. Thos was one of the more complicated set pieces, so an analysis should be posted in a couple days, if not tomorrow. Don't worry about that.

NostalgicTime

Will we have a wiki entry on this battle? I wasn't able to keep track of ship numbers and losses 😅.

Ryan

I cheered at multiple points in the story. I got up with the urge to shout. The writing is epic and It is like watching a movie. I see the battle unfold. I see the characters react and I feel emotions over actions that have not right to do so. It has been a long time since a book has invoked this. I feel like I am kid who is making stories and imagine wars between toys. Please do not stop writing.

David Michael Coomer

Wait, did they purposefully destroy a friendly?

Sovde

holy shit very cool

Henri Wenzel

Awesome

Aaron V.

Also it will be cool to see Rain clash with Dondonna and Screed potentially if they try to rescue the Bulwark Fleet.

Mika Willems

I know what the tactics should be called, The Lemming Train of Doom

MacDB

Possibly the best written space battle scenes yet

elsicava

my bad

windoverwaves

Um, this should be chapter 52

Ryan

Yay
