FuschiaKnight

Given that with this, assuming the Teta plan goes to plan, Rain’s fleet is no longer tied to the Deep Core and has hopefully repaired and reorganized their recoverable damage from Yag’dhul. That means thathe could potentially ride to Calli’s rescue at Rendili.

Jarrik32

I suspect that part of the point of pushing the Republic to the brink is diluting the influence of the clone armies. Unlike in canon where natural born troops were very much second line forces and sector armies stayed at home, it is very much an 'all hands on deck' the same way the CIS droid shut down codes were rendered -mostly- moot by conscripting massive numbers of organics into the military. Even if Sideous wanted to he can't shift the numbers back anymore as no one is crazy enough to let him demobilise non-clone armies and Kamino simply can't grow enough clones to drown them out. The Sith fail safes are still present and dangerous yes, But they aren't the instant fail condition they were at the start of the war anymore either with the vast majority of both militaries pointedly lacking off switches.

Jan Ullrich

Sure but how would he make it public

Jan Ullrich

Everything els he has to find out himself

Basil Harpham

Gonna need to find that quote of Rain instructing Tuff on plot armour. Pretty sure it was along the lines of 'if there's a chance, it will happen'

Ottstop

Huh, I didn't know attitude had more than one meaning. The more you know

syu

Attitude is correct. Altitude is the height of a craft with reference to the surface, attitude is the orientation of a craft (roll, pitch, yaw). So attitude thrusters is used for spacecrafts.

Dae of the Past

Oh, I’m so curious what Rain put in that datachip. Obviously Dooku’s recorded meetings (and the locations of the transmissions), but I imagine there’s extra stuff. Maybe information that he kept close to the chest - either because it’s useless to the CIS (too far away to make use of it) or it’s simply info more useful in Jedi hands. Hmm, maybe there’s a text document that’s just Rain’s notes or “theories” where he alludes to Order 66. It could also have some legitimate theories by Rain about what he thinks the Sith are up to and why. Rain unfortunately doesn’t know of the chips, just the order itself, so he wouldn’t have any extra information to give that the Jedi wouldn’t be able to discover on their own. They ARE much closer to the source than Rain, after all, but Rain’s CIS faction at least know about the droid shut down codes and Rain could theorize that the Sith would have a Republic equivalent to the shut down codes. Just to get those Jedi brains working in that direction. Love seeing Tuff and Hare in the background there. This is probably a good experience for them to see a peaceful negotiation. Tuff is probably like, “He is getting some plot armor on his side. Smart.” Not to mention that - even if it’s just seeing each other’s faces - the Jedi and droids are now more aware of each other’s existence. So this could be another person/resource they could call upon in a situation where all hell breaks loose, where their backs are against a wall and they need help from ANY direction, even if it means calling upon a supposed enemy. And Rain wouldn’t necessarily have to be in the mix for such an interaction. After all, all sides of this negotiation have now seen that they can work together at least on a small scale. It will be interesting to see how this agreement shakes out, especially with Honor’s planned trap for Calli.

Ottstop

Your fleet, and ours, will remain here, neither of which is to activate their drives beyond attitude —> altitude thrusters.

syu

That make sense. Rain is not a hard-core SW fan, so it just seem like a natural order to issue after a treason. Guess he trust these Jedi enough to not be so self assured that they make no preventive action like in the movies. So this coup attempt won't be as disastrous as canon. Rain and friends did make extensive measures to make the CIS coup as likely to succeed as possible. They court over key corporations like techno union, took over the communications node, and will soon invade genesis to wrest control over the droid shutdown codes. He respects Plo Koon enough to confer them the same competence as himself, so expect them to not just roll over and die like in canon. We shall see if this respect is warranted, I sure hope so with how the 'radicals' were portrayed. Can't wait to see how will Anakin react, especially when Naboo and his wife will most likely side against Palpatine.

StarBat

Might be in the chip? Please be in the chip!

William M.

True. But letting your allies know there's a coded "order 66" that calls for their death could give them precious seconds to respond appropriately. The movie made it clear that many Jedi died in part due to confusion over what was happening.

William M.

Rain only knows the mainline movies. The plots of cartoons and comics are unknown to him.

elsicava

he doesnt know about the chips. the movie presented order 66 as 'just another order'

BarrettSlayer

Maybe that will be brought up in later ‘talks’? I agree he should say something if not exactly the code but letting them know he discovered the clones have some organic control chip with pre loaded orders should have them dig into it themselves.

jj jj

Rain can use the Katana fleet as a secret backup force. The fleet was very powerful with 200 dreadnought class cruisers. The fleet is hidden near the Myrkr sector. The fleet could be upgraded to have better firepower and a hanger bay, some dreadnouht class cruisers could hold up to 60 fighters in there hanger bays. This would be a massive boost to Rain's fleet capabilities, and with droids and better automation could further decrease the crew size of 2200.

syu

He did watched the movies though, so he knows about order 66. Perhaps he just don't have sufficient in universe evidence to bring this up. As we can see, he needs to provide incriminating data for Plo Koon and Co to work on Palpatine. Alternatively he is just hedging his bet. Perhaps he don't fully trust the jedi and want them weakened so if whatever successor state from the Republic decides to renew the war against the CIS they will have much less supernatural commanders to command their army.

David Hugo

I feel like this chapter needs more polish. This reads more like a second draft and lacks the clarity your previous chapters had. Dialogue feels cluttered and the spacing is also super weird

Loah

The thing is, Rain explicitly HASN'T seen Clone Wars. He doesn't know about the inhibitor chips. He won't know how to prevent the conditioning

Michael K

I mean, they're presumably gonna be chilling there for a few more days. In a movie, I'd reveal that Rain passed on that little tidbit in a flashback right when Sheev makes the phone call 😆

TPG

Yeah, and he certainly knows about it considering it’s a massive plot point of movie 3. Maybe we can have an internal dialogue soon about his reasoning?

Straven

Agreed. No clue what that is about but we'll see. I'm already loving the entire story even with some small areas that had me scratching my head. Fckn excellent story!

syu

18th Alsakan conflict let's go! It's worrying that Rain didn't bring up order 66 though, Adi's broadcast is enough reason for Palpatine to execute order 66. Without warning this will be almost as devastating as canon. The Jedi out in the field will be slaughtered, while those in the Temple will be far more prepared and should be able to escape to Empress Teta.

IceHot

Iskat ain’t making it off planet…

William M.

"Master Plo looked over his shoulder, as Master Gallia, meaningfully, and purposefully stepped back." The above sentence needs a bit of tweaking as it currently makes it sound like Master Gallia stepped back instead of Plo Koon.

Mad Max

Meh, Rain can't be the problem solver for every little problem that comes the Jedi way. It's not like they don't have worlds known only to them. Or they could do what Yoda did in canon, take a page from Dooku's book and erase the records of the sanctuary worlds from the archives. They did that for Dagobah and the ysalmiri world.

Trevor Perry

Sure, but he hasn't said anything about order 66 yet. Or any of the other hidden orders in the gar. This is going to go sideways so hard, I hope Rain can ride the waves.

Mrsean22

Movies only so Rain doesn't know about the Yong.

Loah

They're all forgetting something rather important... if they attempt a civil war, Order 66 will be put into effect. Its a very important factor, but I haven't seen Rain mention it once.

Bishop7053

Always nice to see more guide fans. Though maybe rain should also offer a hidden world for jedi to setup on if they fail their coup, cause it will cause order 66 early and hopefully less effectively

Mad Max

Practical Guide to Evil. One of the best webnovels ever written. Be warned though. The starting is a bit weak compared to the rest of the story. If you wanna give it a go, I'd recommend sticking till the end of Book 2.

Duke of Coffee

Well hopefully Gallia will find out the leak.

NyaaMe0w

The conspiracy is set, although I kinda wonder if Iskat inadvertently reveals part of the plans to her technician friend in the temple and tipps of Palpatine. Something will always go wrong.

Jarrik32

How very Jedi of them. Your opponent has intelligence you desperately need, how do you get it from them? You walk up to the front door, you knock and when they answer you ask for it.

Null

Thank you for the chapter I was hoping the mc was going to say something about the Yuuzhan Vong, or something about a great evil from future or something, not this.

Retroburn

Google unsurprisingly isn't getting me anywhere. Can someone elaborate on what "Guide" is?

Necessary Lark

Any chapter with plo koon and Bonteri is just great. Loved the chapter! Really helped to lay out what all the moves and threads are leading towards!

Volker

Bonteri becoming an epic story teller

Mrsean22

I'm actually surprised it's going this way. I expected Rain to say Palpatine is the Sith Lord but everyone getting everything they want from this meeting. Rain getting some resources he needs, getting rid of the Mining Guild and his ships are back in order to keep the fight going. Jedi learn who the Sith lord is, getting PR from "beating" Rain and more support against Palpatine regime. Then the Princess is free from the CIS and Mining Guild along with get to support the Jedi. Though guess this makes me curious on what Rain is gonna do now that he's letting the Jedi take this Deep Core area back.

nugitoBambino

i knew that line was familiar! still gives me the chills though. i freaking love Guide

Duke of Coffee

"I will break anything that gets in my way, be it gods or empires or all the armies in creation.” And so it begins, a new timeline different from our canon time ignites.

David Michael Coomer

poor rain is certainly living in interesting times as that saying goes

Straven

Darn nice read! Darn nice and enjoyable! Thanks for the read.

King Henry V

Great… so Iskat is gonna blab ey…

Asharzal

Talk about strange bedfellows. However the Republic tearing itself apart is only natural, as in it's very principle the Core is and will always be the main part that will profit. The Rims and the Colonies are only valued for their cheap resources, resources the Core needs. Coruscant, the everhungry maw it is, as well as the other "centers of civilization" will never allow for those resources the slip their grasp.

Nathan Ganesan

And they finally get a name.

David Michael Coomer

God danm might as well be the tension of operation Knightfall in scope because this is fucking great. I only weep that its once a week because i want more

Trailblazer

This is truly the begining of the end. The players are set, the dice are prepped and the pieces are placed. All that's left is to start the game. Welcome, to an interesting galaxy in an interesting time.

Mad Max

Somebody's a fan of Guide, it seems.
