Paul Plaiulla

That could mean Dooku as well, the fleet anakin fought was Dooku's so he might have known Anakin was there and told Palps.

Duke of Coffee

Eriadu planetary shields long been cracked thanks to siege by the Separatists before Tombmaker came to command that fleet to glass it. Chapter 51: (Eriadu was the last major Loyalist stronghold in the Outer Rim, and it was a world under siege, and one that has been, in one way or another, since the Clone Wars began. Its fleets have been decimated, its planetary shields cracked and broken. There was no resistance left, but that found planetside.)

Quentin Johnson

Hmm I wonder if Delta source means Delta Squad was sent to investigate/get info on recent events

Marcin

You need to break the planetary shield first ... also that begs the question why Eriadu didnt have shields. And PDS ?

Basil Harpham

It would be species level genocide to glass

D3ad0s

Oh, also, Skakoan atmosphere is full of Methane, isn’t it? So big BOOM?

D3ad0s

I have been thinking. Skakoa is now in the similar position to Eriadu. It is a CIS world in the Core that is harboring an enemy fleet. Further more Honor is sieging the planet so the fleet will not escape and cause havoc. With the 2nd fleet invading the Core Republic is running out of options and becoming more desperate for fleets. Here is what I think might happen: Honor will glass Skakoa. It will destroy the enemy fleet, it will eliminate a CIS foothold and it will free up a fleet to deal with the invasion. And there is a precedent of glassing a planet set by CIS. What about billions of dead Skakoans? Who cares about civi Sepie lives. It’s inhumane? Reps will celebrate this as revenge for Eriadu. Republic is supposed to be better than this, and if not then at least the lesser evil? Well, now they have a fleet to defend the Core from invaders and keep everyone save. Will Anakin feel conflicted when he will see the Whole of the Republic celebrate an atrocity worse than Eriadu? (Skakoa is in the 100 of billons I believe and is the only properly habitable planet for the Skakoan species). Will he feel even more conflicted when, say, Naboo will secede from the Republic in protest? What will he think of his friend the Chancellor when it turns out that he sanctioned this crime? And what would he think of the Jedi when they turn the other way because Admiral Honor will be needed to protect the Core? What would happen when he tries and fails to bring Honor to justice? So many questions, so much drama. What are your thoughts?

ASupremeTab

Mister Chancellor, a second fleet has enter the core worlds

SUP Dood

Look out there’s Calli Trilm with the chair, what’s this!?! Rain Bonteri slithering up from behind the chancellor and RKO! RKO OUTA NOWHERE!

Kriegsdude

That is literally the point of operation starlance, to allow the CIS to take the rim.

IceHot

Mr. Chancellor, a second fleet has hit the Inner Core

Zoroastrian

So now the outer rim has to be halted or abandoned to the CIS to have enough to deal with now 3 enemy fleets in the core. A good opportunity to make big gains in the rim and if this series wants to end in less than a year from now, an endgame or peace deal.

Hawk

Makes sense to me, but maybe changing the end to say that there is now a third separatist fleet in the core will clear it up for others

PearsMan

So she suspects the chancellor cus he can’t remember a name, which is fair as it’s an infamous name. But perhaps he can spin it in the idea that he’s very busy and meets with a billion people and has a lot on his plate non military wise. So this alone won’t stick. She will need alot more. But damn palpatine must be seething with annoyance n anger.

Aaron V.

I'm really looking forward to Rain getting access to what remains of the fleet. The bulwark class 1 ships are some of the coolest imo, as they are one the only alternatives to SD that are uses from clone wars to post Endor (albeit both being later models of the orginal.) Also ramming things with ships known for their durability is fun to read.

elsicava

Has the Bulwark Fleet ever been considered an 'invading fleet'? To invade means to enter a region from the *outside*, and the Bulwark Fleet has always been *inside* the Core. I can't recall writing anyone calling the BF one of the 'invaders' precisely for this reason The BF is a 'Separatist fleet in the Core' but not a 'Separatist fleet invading the Core.'

William M.

I feel like this chapter is inconsistent over the number of separatist fleets in the core. In most parts, the bulwark fleet is considered one of the invading fleets, but the very end, it is excluded. Meaning that both before and after Bonteri's fleet was detected there were two separatist fleets in the core.

Trasen56

Not just politicians limiting the military, but centralizing it to give Palps power and remove aspect of the Republic lmao.

elsicava

really? i feel like the last stormdoor/starlance briefing map is still accurate enough to be used. but i suppose I can make a new map focused on the core in particular for starlance.

Peter

This would be amazing now

Duke of Coffee

This is why politics should never interfere with military matters....

Kieran Hosty

It's bad taste I know but... YER MAJESTY, THERES A SECOND FLEET COMIN'

Duke of Coffee

Hopefully Dooku doesn't murder Tann... she did get recalled back to Seperatist Senate to explain why Tombmaker glassed a Outer Rim planet.

syu

Per the wiki, seems like the planet is controlled by a mining guild who always wanted to get in bed with the CIS. Probably due to Republic tax laws or the like, they just can't do it without immediately getting rent given their position. Now however, with Rain on site and a proven hyperlane that gives them an out, they immediately declared for the CIS.

TPG

yea pls 🙌🙌

Kana

Oh man, Palpatine must be having a harder time than he ever had keeping his force presence locked within himself. I don't think he's ever been in this bad a position. What will be very interesting now, is seeing what's happening with the Separatists, and what Dooku's trial and unveiling of his betrayal will do to the separatist movement. I imagine Tann, the big boss lady and favorite character, is going to be getting a lot more support and power though, and she will hopefully use it wisely, as she has been so far.

Bishop7053

Gallia is now my favorite jedi next to plo koon simply cause she has giant brass balls to goad palps into breaking cover. I really want her and Rain to meet and for them to hit it off cause I feel like them working together will really ruin even more of palps plans. Especially if the tapani secede further spreading civil war and cock slapping palps hopes for empire

Bishop7053

That implies he can even remember bonteris name, which he can't and I find Gallia to be utterly fantastic and I will be sad when or if she dies cause the sheer balls she has to basically beg Palps to break cover is hilarious all while wearing a smile. I feel like her and bonteri would get along fantastically

Notcreepycreeper

This continues to be one of the best large-scale military Sci-fi stories I've read. I'm truly engaged at all times, actions have real stakes, and the tension never stops. That it's 'just' a fanfic is pretty funny

NostalgicTime

So around... a week give or take.

Timofei Alechkevitch

Fair enough, that makes sense. Feels very easy, especially compared to how Rain had to struggle for every scrap of advantage he could get for basically the whole story, but I also like that. Rain deserves an easy win after everything he's been going through

D3ad0s

I imagine it went something like this: Rain: “So you know how the Republic have been screwing you over by meddling with your export prices and got away with it because there was only one trade route available for you? Well, we have found another! You are now connected to the Outer Rim and can bypass the Republic! We have way better prices by the way and you can set them yourself!” Terra rep.: “And if we wont to stay?” Rain: *Points to the fleet in orbit while remaining utterly calm* ___________________________________________________ Alternatively he could point out that Tombmaker can take the same hyperlane that he did. Everyone saw what he did to an Outer Rim planet that wanted to stay in the Republic, now imagine what he will do to a Core planet that is still in the Republic when he gets to them.

Kriegsdude

According to Canon Empress teta did defect to the separatists for some reason, so really Canon didn't change this time.

TwoJacksAndAnAce

Got real excited for a moment lol. Thought you had graced us with two chapters at the same time, I almost cried in joy.

Jan Ullrich

Short question is this really the target rain was going towards or is this another of palpies secret fleets (I mean in nearly every cannon story he has some secret fleet) we already have three as far as I am aware of. Not saying it’s not good or a problem just when it says a fleet has been seen there is always going to be the question of it being a secret fleet

Timofei Alechkevitch

This is very exciting! I wonder what Rain could have done to convince the Empress-Teta system to join the CIS, was it a case of simple intimidation, or some actual politicking? I know that Empress Teta (formerly Koros Major) was a major supplier of carbonite to the Core, and, hence, wealthy and important to the Republic, so unless I'm missing some major lore, I am perplexed as to what could have motivated them to so quickly abandon the Republic that made them rich

Mrsean22

Oh god I love this chapter. Some political plays going on in the meeting. The military pointing out it's the politicians fault because they were limiting what the military can do from these new bills. Add in Rain just showing up in the middle of the Deep Core with said Deep Core worlds joining the CIS? Republic must be panicking with Three CIS fleets in their territory.

InsertNameHere

Priestess network let's him basically be invisible by knowing where all fleets are so he can avoid him and the Yag'dul hyperspace calculation probably let him get there way faster then anyone would normally be able to

Quentin Johnson

In the words of Spiderman - “How’d that get in there?” 👀

D3ad0s

And that’s, kids, how you pincer an entire galactic state! My man Rain making a donut out of the Republic Republic was encircled. CIS fleets on all sides! What does Battle Hydra do? Open a new front

Duke of Coffee

How to ruin Sith Lord Sidious plans 101.

NostalgicTime

Palpatine: Dooku betrayed me... I mean I feel proud and good on him and all that, but he just fucked up many of my plans and now I must clean house.

NostalgicTime

Could we have a galactic map that shows the movements/location of all these invasions and the current area controlled by either side?

Straven

God I love this story, we seriously need some real movie makers that would make a star wars from the other side movie.

Confused

And oh boy Palpatine's plan is in shambles by now! With Adi also on to him given Rain's Force Null signature. I think people have mentioned that in the past as a way to hinting towards Palpy's true colors. And well looks like they where right! Either way the Republic is in a state of panic with three fleets in the Core or Deep Core they have no choice now but to recall their fleets which is what the separatists want. And with the Empress Teta declaring for the Separatist cause means Rain has some worlds to act as supply hubs to rearm and supply from. Either way Rain is off his leash and practically at a free buffet given there's no Republic fleet near him to stop him from hitting every single infrastructure hub he can find and more as the Republic scrambles everything back towards the core to try and stop him. Great Chapter cant wait to see SB reaction to all of this when it drops there!

elsicava

Remember the rule: 3 days for 3000 parsecs. each grid square is 1500 parsecs across.

NostalgicTime

Wait wait wait, how long has it been in universe before this chapter? How did Bonteri reach what is essentially the direct back door of Coruscant? Had I been part of the Republic, I would have had a heart attack on hearing of this.

Jarrik32

This is the Federation-Dominion war all over again. Seerdon has hammered the point home that this is a political issue not a military one. As The Battle Hydra and co. invading the core is a terrifying proposition but realistically it is a minor military threat and a moderate economic threat. The true danger lies on the border waiting to exploit the Republics panicked flailing. The internal threat is the arrogance and complacency of the core worlds, it's not 'over there' any more and it's not 'someone elses problem' the Seperatists are HERE and not just any but the Battle Hydra themselves with the Tombmaker following close behind. Can they accept the pain and press on or will they crumble as the Federation did? It's all in the mind now. Stand or fall.

Jarrik32

Palpatine: {Censored}!!! Oh holy {Censored} what the {Censored} is Dooku playing at on that {Censored} {Censored} {Censored} he calls home!! A {Censored} thousand years of work all down the drain because that {Censored} left his acolyte with the impression that this was supposed a real war not a carefully controlled piece of Theatre. I am going {Censored} {Censored} {Censored} his {Censored} neck if it is the last thing I do. I swear it on the dark side, light side and any other aspect of the force discoverable. What I do after that to the other miscreants. Well, it will be time to get 'creative'...

will shumway

Nice to see the republic reaction! I'm hoping to see palatine's genuine reaction to all this

Mad Max

And his useless apprentice.

Man-O'-War

And now it’s time for rain to come in with the steel chair

The Anchor's Hat

Not one of Palpatine's days. Bet he wishes he could travel across the galaxy and personally wring the necks of both Tann and Bonteri.

Dineshraj Dhandapani

Sir a second plane has struck the tower

Xaim

Mwahaha, eat Rains exhaust fumes, Palpy!

Trailblazer

And now we have another potential upcoming player in the coming conflagration; the Tapani Federation! If the Coruscanti government and northern Core Worlders appear to abandon their southern brethern, that's it for the Republic Palpy's imperial dream. Now all Rain and Calli has to do is force it before CIS collapses into its own warring states.

Mad Max

Poor Palpy. His blood pressure must be hitting the roof. And it'll be interesting to see what gets added to the chapter before it becomes public. That would prove to be enlightening.

elsicava

Woops, if you got a notification for 'Chapter 63', its because my dumbass couldn't count. Again.
