Daniel Andrews

Do we still not know the situation with Tann?

A⊄Pow(A)

He might be compelled by anger, but in canon he never struck me as suicidal. He was quite adept at living to see another day afterall. Plus, it's not like Rain has made him do a 180 on his Jedi revenge, he's simply told him to back off and reassess. Grievous isn't so dumb (Rain out-maneuvered him already) to take that fight over anger and hatred when Rain isn't even a Jedi.

PearsMan

This is a logical answer to a person who is pushed towards anger n hatred. Dosent feel like it would work.

A⊄Pow(A)

To be fair, Rain made a very compelling personal speech for Grievous all the while putting him in a collossally disadvantageous battle position. It was essentially a choice of acquiessing... or damaging Rain's fleet only to knowingly end up in the void.

windoverwaves

Oh, it is going to be separatists coming to the rescue. *Cough* My apologies, the Empress Tata Navy will be coming to the rescue with their two captured battlecarriers Saratoga and Lexington.

The Stars Align

In a very strange way, this order 66 is worse than canon. Not in casualties, the Jedi are now better prepared, I hope Asoka makes it out. But this order 66 is not a betrayal out of the blue, here it is strangely enough working as intended, the Jedi *are* committing high treason, in the midst of a war. Yes it is necessary against the sith, but good luck explaining this whole mess to the average citizen!

SSs34TheElf

At this point, I think it is Yoda, Shaak Ti, Obiwan and maybe one or two that stayed behind in the Jedi Temple. But the Jedi have a chance. I assume Barris’ call for reinforcements in the previous chapter are going to come in the form of separatists coming to the rescue lol. Since the majority of the republic fleet and the open circle are all at Serreno, a cheeky drive by Courascant to pick up the Jedi could be possible.

Volker

Amazing

Docnox

True. Hoppin back a couple hundred years to masted ships and ya, every one was armed.

Charles L

Windu tore through the entire Republic force that was storming Dooku's castle all by himself. Really does his depiction in the original clone wars animation justice.

Charles L

Real world navies don't engage in boarding action on the regular.

Vg7

Best chapter until now!

Mad Max

Who among the old council is still alive? Just Yoda?

Bishop7053

RIP Plo, you were the goat

Docnox

befor battle. and it wouldnt matter if they didn't like it, theyd still have to follow the order

MacDB

Absolutely epic chapter. Not Ashoka though :(

CB-Otaku

I absolutely love the Dooku/Mace interaction. Dooku admiring Mace's ability to use the darkside without being used by it in turn makes so much sense

CB-Otaku

Yeah, Windu LOVES the Republic. He could never accept a galaxy where the Republic of his day isn't a thing and could never be convinced that the Republic is beyond saving. He is absolutely the guy who would insist everyone stay on the sinking ship and start bailing it out with buckets long past the point of no return. And so... he needed to go

Trevor Perry

Oh... I wonder if Palpatine will know about grievous with rain clouding his perception...

SSs34TheElf

Yeah, it is sad. Although, it seemed like she was in her starfighter when the Republican fleet turned on itself. Still, while a good pilot, she isn’t an outstanding one. With the added surprise and shock of order 66, few pilots can survive. Heck even Plo Koon in the original timeline couldn’t react in time to his clone pilots shooting at him. Ahsoka is pretty much dead 🥲

Duke of Coffee

Damn Jedi massacre everywhere... a few more chapters of this ride before it ends... hopefully Ahsoka survives.

SSs34TheElf

Dang, Obi-Wan’s realisation at what Plo Koon did and his sacrifice to save what he could of the fleet. Those separatist boarding ships now are ironically his only hope in getting out alive. Afterall, it is only a matter of time before systems come back online. Unless, as Cody stated, the droids secured the reactors, preventing the ship from ever powering back on and just drifting in space and pulled around by Luckerhulk tractor beams xD. Not going to lie, if there is any Jedi that deserves to be a force ghost, it is Plo Koon. That description of him in absolute serene calmness in making his last stand, of letting go. Excited for what comes next!

Kevin Neely

In battle

Kevin Neely

Maybe for the smaller ships but the capital ships are designed to be basically all in ones for planetary invasion.

Joel

He was cut in half. He is dead.

Tank45

Fingers crossed for a Dooku redemption. Anakin is going to be so beyond confused. Poor Ahsoka, pretty sure she’s dead by now? If she is, really sells the fact that Anakin’s training is what saved her and Anakin telling her she wouldn’t make it as Obi-Wan’s padawan.

Notcreepycreeper

Glad windu went down fighting at the absolute peak. If nothing else it's a good reminder of what the jedi were truly capable of. In a universe with planet killing super weapons, laser swords seem almost corny. I do hope the Jedi manage to actually save themselves and regrow, as they did several times over millenia

William M.

As a counter-argument, ramming, boarding, and tractor beam capture are far more prominent in Star wars. Back when that was prominent in sea warfare, there were more arms for the crew as well.

William M.

Likely because Dooku wasn't the one who just tore through an entire army all on his own. If you had pick one to defeat without force user support. Which one would you choose?

KnightofTempest

Star Wars Capital Ships are kilometers long. There's plenty of room when you take that into account

Fourhand

My point here being "He died a better Jedi here than in canon". He rejected Dooku and was utterly despondent and betrayed, but he wasn't going against the tenants of the order out of rage. With the Jedi falling and Dooku very much NOT in the Palpatine camp, there's. Every chance for the Raxus/Serenno reconciliation to happen now, and quickly, if it can. Plo Koon's last breath is one of sympathy for Dooku, and if he recoils from Order 66 in the force, he has every chance to pull back to grey or better. What reader of a Separatist fic doesn't secretly want a redeemed, Right All Along Dooku? We might not get that much, but a Dooku who repents is a far better thing. He can himself confess to Palpatine's crimes, he witnessed and cooperated in many, and help liberate the galaxy. It depends if he can humble himself when he doesn't need to, far from Raxus and the Serenno Transmission hearings and all the politics of that now forgotten scandal. I can hope! (Some minor typos, i noticed two. One of Rain, "the only person I would fear is one -if- equal if not greater understanding", and one in Plo with Lissarkh, "sweat dripping down her face, -his- grip on her weapon tightening with every passing second")

Kaywye

Woooo! Awesome chapter! Order 66 in it's full glory. Incredible!

Mrsean22

Well that Grievous vs Rain battle was very much a Rain win. Though Grievous becoming a possible Warlord in the New Territory. Though it makes me curious how the New Territory will go because can see some worlds either joining the Empire, Republic, CIS or just not picking a side. Well Order 66 has begun. Obi-Wan is weirdly enough the most safe in a ship not even working. Clones not turning on him while attacking everyone else. Though Ahsoka is basically alone but isn't dead yet. Plo Koon dying a martyr while hoping the Jedi live on. Mace is very much dead by surprisingly Trench though Dooku did a lot of the work.

Marcin

Huh.... why would Trench save Dooku ? Also if Plo Koon jedi master could barly stand, the clones would fly around like pebbles. They would not be capable of accurate fire :P

BigBillyWilly

Gotta say, Grievous living to fight another day after his clash with Rain was not on my bingo card. I guess in the grand scheme of things, having another thorn in the Republic's side could only help the Confederacy. Not gonna lie, I'm happy that our beloved angry cyborg lives to go on pinning insects to his wall. I have to wonder why Trench himself would touch ground on Serenno before confirming Dooku's death? Unless maybe while Windu was fighting his way out, Dooku made a call to surrender himself to the Raxus faction. Regardless, I don't see him outliving the next couple of chapters, after all, HE'S TOO DANGEROUS TO BE LEFT ALIVE! Funny how he managed to make it farther than Windu... that's better than canon at least. Great chapter and already looking forward to next Sunday!

Fourhand

I am a somewhat firm believer that Mace is intended to be seen as Fallen, in the Chancellor's office. Him abandoning the idea of due process for Palpatine (only after his fellow Jedi are killed, he was willing to try beforehand) is a sign of pride, and he explicitly rejects the Jedi way. It is meant to echo Dooku and Anakin earlier in the film.

William M.

How could that possibly be justified in the middle of a battle? Do you really think that wouldn't be seen as sabotage by those not in the know?

Docnox

if they have to break into the armory to get their weapons, thats easily an extra 5 mins of time bought

Hailhound

Yeah it was so good. Anyone else notice that he totally told Grievous what he wanted to hear, not the truth? We’ve heard explicitly that the Jedi aren’t gonna become stateless wandering myths, Rain and Trench are saving them specifically because the Jedi still have galactic goodwill. They want them so they can be propaganda pieces to proclaim Raxus’s legitimacy as the true secessors to all that was still good in the old republic.

Hailhound

No I think he’s gonna take his 3 C-9979s and obliterate Dooku. He needed Windu dead for his own reasons, because he needs to purge the surviving Jedi of any remaining hardcore republic loyalists like Windu, so they could become loyal to their saviors. But for the same reason, the legitimacy of the Racus government, he needs Dooku dead too

Hailhound

Yeah, I think we as readers need to separate why we are on the side of the Jedi and why Rain and Trench are on their side. They are helping the Jedi becuase of their own self interest as the Jedi can establish legitimacy against the corpse of the republic. So any hardcore Republican loyalists among them, as much as we as readers love the characters, actually hurt Rain and Trench

SpaceFan839

"The Jedi and those that follow them are all traitors and as such any orders that they have given are to be ignored if it means killing them faster." Order 66

Docnox

Thats one of the weirder, parts of star wars. In the real world, naval crews are not armed. Theres not remotely enough guns on board. Theres maybe 50 rifles and handguns vs the 1-3k crew. And they are kept locked up. Furthermore all those republic ship already sent out there ground forces and flight crews. Sooo there shouldn’t be more then a dozen guns left onboard. Again locked up. There are side arms for the pilots, rifles for the ground team and security forces. (Of which is still relatively small number)

PearsMan

Amazing chapter! I’m suprised Grevious was like “alright peace out” if this is legends Grevious, considering u mentioned kaleee, then dosent he have an angry robot mini brain also in his head messing with him?

Man-O'-War

I have to wonder will anakin fall this time

Mikołaj

Wonderful chapter.

Docnox

Windu … needed to die for to prevent the hardline republic from gaining a rallying figure to resume agression against the confederacy eventually

MaliMi

Was not expecting Drievus to survive. Or for Trench to help kill Windu.

Docnox

So… why didnt they lock down the ship’s armories? The clones wouldn’t have been able to defy direct orders to turn in their blasters. Argue all they want. They would of had to obey.

Trevor Perry

Well, that was different. Old grandpa palpy is going to be rather annoyed by this i imagine.

Cole Robinson

Dang, I can't believe Rain passed the speech check

Trailblazer

RIP Plo Koon, martyrs' death indeed. Now, is Trench pivoting to Dooku after all this? If Rain is forced to fight him then CIS would also be truly dead.

Brioche

To be truthful, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Bonteri was in on this. I believe Windu was previously described as among the group of Jedi who were "extremely attached to the Republic as a construct", which makes him a dangerous variable in their plans. That, or maybe we'll get a Trench vs Bonteri showdown :P

Ewout

Ah yes, I see now. It’s just like to miss a word while reading

M0och

Plo Koon dying hurts... so does Mace Windu's death. Force they are such badasses

M0och

Pretty clear that he did: "Jedi Master Mace Windu's lifeless eyes stared into the sky"

Anareth

Windu's a hardcore republican patriot. That's a dealbreaker for Trench.

Michael K

Admiral Trench with the steel chair was definitely *not* something I saw coming.

Carter

That was good shit

Stav Tri

Well, I wonder how the Jedi halls are doing?

Ewout

I’m kind of lost on if Windu died?

Dineshraj Dhandapani

WTF! Why did trench join hands with dooku at the end!?
