is it over?

This. Very much this question.

Tann stepping back, Dooku being sent away into exile, and having the civilian government back in control honestly makes the Confederacy seem to be both the strongest and healthiest faction in this new world. I'm sure there will be constant push and pull from the CAF and the government, but at least it's not a dictatorship like Palpatine's "Republic" nor is it a paper tiger with idealism as its strongest weapon like the Restorationists. Honestly, I imagine a lot of planets and systems will be leaning towards joining the CIS, especially now that it seems like it is what it was always imagined to be by its citizens. Like that Asajj gets some closure, as for what she can do, maybe start her own force using branch of the CAF? Tann would probably sign off on it and it would help to have force sensitive intelligence officers keeping an eye out for Sidious Shenanigans. Another great chapter, which makes it all the more harder knowing we're at the final stretch! Thank you!

I do hope we get to see some of the senators reacting to being reinstated but atleast the confederacy has some democracy now

Michael K

It's not like Trench or Rain actually gave a shit about the actual fate of Dooku. Ignominiously offed on the way to exile is probably something they expected and/or don't care so long as the polite fictions are kept.

FunnyHats

Even if he didn't die, trapped in that confinment he might as well be dead.

twentytoo

the death was "off screen" that that means there is a chance he is going to come back.

Pariah

It's not explicit but rather implied given the mention earlier of a killswitch and her reaching for the panel. She left the room filled with gasses, gave a kill switch, and dooku just... drifted away. The idea is that instead of giving him a violent death as a sith/jedi she didnt give him even that dignity. "Would you look at that,” Naradan murmured, “Do you think the box has a kill-switch?” ... She took a step back, slammed the sarcophagus shut, and reached for the panel. There was no indication anything changed. No sound, no light, no movement. The prisoner inside did not move. And when she peered through the viewport again, Count Dooku’s eyes were closed.

Straven

Nicely done, all I've got to say. Thank you for the read.

Akel

What a novel!

Fourhand

Disappointed in Asajj, to walk the Tann play so eagerly. But since Dooku giving testimony was out of the cards, I guess there was no real other fate as far as the galaxy would be concerned. Exile would have meant some killer memoirs, though. As a CIS focused fic, Dooku got amazingly little focus, yet that was a service. He's as open to interpretation as he should be, so believers in the dream can see him having stood ready to die a martyr for it at Serenno, and proud of his accidental success in the new Rim.

Ewout

Frankly it doesn't matter. Let's say that this is found out somehow. First the military apparatus will know of it. This is something they'll supress like no tomorrow. IF and if the senate finds out it can be called a failure of his life support systems or something like that. The majority of the senate knows that Dooku is gone and his exile is a good excuse, but practically a death sentence. Same for what happened to Napoleon. With his last exile he got exiled. This was a nice wrap up and story the people who where in power and/or believed in him could use, while anyone who was anyone knew it was just a death sentence. Whether or not he died on the island or on a ship on the way there was a moot point.

LockNesTom

Is Rain still thought dead by the public? I feel like him being revealed as alive would boost Confederate moral even higher. Not to mention be a slap in the face to Palpatine and his 'Republic'.

Jacob

I'm assuming Rain ordered it, maybe with Tann's help, codes are from geonosis where he sent them, and she killed him by flicking a switch on the box rather than as a sith/jedi by using her lightsaber.

Duke of Coffee

And Dooku dies peacefully, and knowing the dream will still continue with others.

Orbnet

We're they not sent to get the code from geonosis?

Orbnet

I wonder what happend to anakin? I'm assuming he joined Padme?

Orbnet

Yeah I feel like I missed that also, didn't she just close the thing on him?

N0T0B0K

Wait, how did he die? Did I misread the part where he died?

Charles L

Dooku has won despite himself. I like to think that in these last moments, he renounced the dark side and regained something of the idealistic Jedi master he used to be.

Zielscheibe

My bet is Sev’rance with help from Palpatim. He should knew the codes

Mad Max

I have to say, this is a much more satisfying epilogue chapter than the last one.

Zielscheibe

A Good Ending for the Count, his false Dream he proposed, did come true. But what is Rain/Trench endgame?

Basil Harpham

But who ordered the hit?

pim

Ooof there goes dooku
