I’m so sorry, Charlie passed away on Monday
🕑 Added 2025-10-09 03:41:39 +0000 UTCI have rewards for you guys. I have a few close to being finished ( 1 NSFW self portrait, 2 bonus comics) but we lost Charlie on Monday and I thought I could still push them out but I can’t bring myself to do it right now.
I promise to have them out by early next week but I’m so sorry. This year has just been unusually (cruelly?) rough but I don’t want to dodge my commitments. I’m making this to be accountable.
Charlie’s passing was unexpected. With it so close to Lucy’s, it fucked us up. He was older but it came out of nowhere. He was 100% normal Sunday morning and died in my arms 24 hours later. We woke up Monday with him not being able to stand and his breathing was ragged. We went to the emergency vet and they couldn’t even hear his lungs because there was so much fluid. He was in the active stages of dying. We were told that they could do testing but it was really if we wanted to know how it was happening but they believed it was rapid onset heart failure. There was nothing they could do. We had to give the call to let him go. The hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life was not to break eye contact while I told him I loved him over and over again while I watched the light leave his eyes.
I know you guys are more understanding than I am of myself but I feel awful for using the dead dog excuse twice in a few months time. I will get all this month’s rewards out, I just want to be transparent that it may be at weird times or clumped up. Im sorry. This year sucks so much. I promise to make it worth it.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace in knowing that you gave him your love AND the greatest gift of compassion you could. Taking care of yourself is not “dodging commitments,” it’s “understanding you’ve had an unexpected priority arise and you need to renegotiate the terms of your implied contract with us.” And you’ve renegotiated it. Take care of you. Seriously.
