I got an idea about why now she’s feeling so remorseful. Nora the wood elf mentioned that lamia can go crazy without any type of companionship. Maybe after spending time with the listener this lamia (who’s name we still don’t know) starting to gain a bit of her senses back after going a bit looney and possessive and now realizes what she did was wrong. Animal fact: in real life some snakes are known to eat their mates. Most notably, the green anaconda has been known to do this for the same reasons shown here.
