I don't understand the appeal in haggling. The profit margins on commodities such as furniture has to be pretty thin to begin with. It seems especially cynical to think these companies conspire to overcharge you for a couch or bed. It's not good business sense, they need to sell their merchandise as quickly as they can. Bloated prices won't accomplish that.
