人間の時間感覚ってほんとにあてにならないな～って思います。
0.1バージョンの開発を始めた頃からどれだけ時間が経ったか、たまに振り返らなかったら、「まだ3〜4ヶ月くらいじゃない？」って思っちゃってたかも。
でも、最初の体験版を遊んでくれた一部のプレイヤーにとっては、体感ではもう2〜3年くらい経ってるんじゃないかなって気もします。
ともあれ、去年の4月1日にこのゲームの開発を正式に発表して、7月に最初の体験版を出してから、気づけば9ヶ月間ずっと走り続けてきました。
そしてついに、バージョン0.721にアップデート！
これはある意味、一周年記念の「特別版」って感じですね（笑）
せっかくの節目なので、0.721の公開と合わせて、ちょっとした開発雑談も書いてみようと思ってます。
最近、みんなが気になってることってたぶんこの2つだと思います：
1.なんで更新がこんなに遅いの？
2.なんでまだ本番の内容が入ってないの？
まず1つ目についてなんだけど、前にも話した通り、人間の時間感覚ってほんとにあてにならないんです。
実は0.1バージョンから今まで、まだ9ヶ月しか経ってないんですよ。
しかもこの間、毎月必ず1回以上はアップデートを出してるんです。
これは、他の開発中のゲームと比べてもかなりハイペースな方です。
今の更新スピードですら、メンバーたちが寝る間も惜しんで開発に打ち込んでやっと出せてる「限界の速度」なんです。
普通のゲーム制作って、毎月リリースできるような進捗なんて、まず無理です。
コードも、イラストも、テキストも――すべてが時間と手間をかけてやっと形になります。
しかも、創作って工場のライン作業じゃないから、
「時間とアイディアを入れたら、決まったタイミングで面白いコンテンツが出てくる」みたいなことは絶対にありえません。
何もかもが予定通りに行くなんてことはないし、
予想してなかった不具合や問題もいっぱい起こります。
ゲーム開発って、そういう「思いがけない壁」とずっと戦い続ける仕事なんです。
そして、たとえ技術的な問題を全部乗り越えたとしても、今度はアイディアの壁が立ちはだかります。
面白い仕掛けや、魅力的な演出、印象に残るセリフやイベントを作るには、
資料を集めて、考えて、何度も試して、修正して、やっと形になるんです。
最初から「これを作れば面白くなる！」なんてわかってるわけじゃない。
作りながら考えて、迷って、試行錯誤して、少しずつ形にしていく。
それがゲーム開発なんです。

People's sense of time is really unreliable.
If I didn’t occasionally look back at how long it’s been since I started development on version 0.1, I’d probably still think it’s only been 3 or 4 months.
But for some players, it might feel like it’s already been 2 or 3 years since the first playable demo dropped.
Either way, since officially announcing the game on April 1st last year, and releasing the first demo in July, it’s been 9 months of nonstop work.
Now, we’re finally at version 0.721!
This update kind of feels like a one-year anniversary “collector’s edition” (lol).
To mark the occasion, I’m planning to write a little dev talk to go along with the 0.721 release.
I think there are two big questions a lot of people are wondering about lately:
1. Why are updates so slow?
2. Why isn’t there any “segs content” yet?
So, about the first one—like I mentioned earlier, people’s sense of time is kind of unreliable.
From version 0.1 to now, it’s actually only been 9 months. And in that time, we’ve managed to put out at least one update every month at a steady pace.
That’s already way faster than most in-development games out there. Even this current pace is already the absolute limit of what our small team at the Tea Party can handle—we’re basically pouring in our time, energy, and sleep.
In a typical game development cycle, there’s no way you’d get publishable progress every single month.
Everything—code, art, writing—takes time and effort. And unlike factory work, creative work isn’t something you can just force out on a schedule.
You can’t just throw time and ideas into a developer and expect them to pump out content like a machine.
Things go wrong. A lot. We run into unexpected problems, technical issues, design conflicts—it’s all part of the process.
Even if we somehow solve all of that, we’re still limited by inspiration.
To come up with fun mechanics, cool visuals, and interesting dialogue, we have to gather references, brainstorm, experiment, and revise—over and over—before we can finally show you something we’re proud of.
You don’t start game development with all the answers.
You figure things out as you go—and that’s what makes it so hard, but also kind of magical.

人类对时间的感知是非常不靠谱的，如果不是时常会回顾从开发0.1版本到现在花了多长时间，我会以为只不过才过了三四个月而已，而对一部分玩家而言，从发布第一个体验版到现在体感时间可能已经过了两三年。
不论如何，从去年4月1日正式宣布这个游戏开始制作，7月发布第一个体验版之后，又经过了9个月的不懈努力，游戏终于更新到了0.721版本。
这会是一个有特殊纪念意义的一周年典藏版本（笑）。为了纪念这一时刻，我打算在发布0.721这个特殊版本的同时写一些游戏开发的杂谈。
我想近期大家最关心的问题有两个，
1.为什么更新这么慢
2.为什么没有本番内容。
关于问题1，就像前言所说的一样，人类对时间的感知是非常不靠谱的，从0.1版本更新至今其实只花了9个月，我们以非常稳定的频率每个月更新至少一个版本，这实际上远超了其他开发中的游戏平均的更新速度和频率，即使是现在这种开发速度也已经是茶会成员们废寝忘食的投入开发换来的极限速度了。
按照正常的开发流程，几乎不可能每个月都能有可以发布的游戏进度，因为从代码、美术到文案，游戏中的一切都是需要花费时间精力去制作的，而且创作不是工业化的生产流程，你不能期望只要投入了原料（时间和灵感）到游戏开发成员身上，然后时间到了游戏开发成员就会像机器一样产出内容来，不可能一切都很顺利，什么都不出问题，我们得面对各种自己未曾预料的意外和困难，游戏开发的过程就是时时刻刻与突发状况作斗争的过程。
甚至即使我们克服了一切意外和技术上的困难，我们依然会受限于灵感，为了想出一个有趣的玩法、有趣的画面、有趣的台词和对白，我们必须得收集素材、思考、反复得试验和修改，最后才能有呈现在大家眼前得有趣的游戏内容——你不可能从一开始就知道自己要做什么，然后像机器一样持续产出有趣的内容。
2つ目の質問についてですが、
「正式版を買ってもらうために、わざと本番シーンを入れてないんじゃないか？」って思ってる人もいるかもしれません。
でも実際のところは――そうじゃなくて、ただ純粋に、まだ作りきれてないんです。
というのも、本番シーンって本当に難しいんです。
うちは手描きアニメーションという表現方法を選んでいて、しかも広角かつ高解像度の背景上で動かすという、
めちゃくちゃ難易度の高いスタイルに挑戦しています。
正直、参考になる他のゲームなんてほとんどないし、
それってつまり、ほぼすべての演出や見せ方を自分たちで一から考えて、作らなきゃいけないってことなんです。
そして、その中でも特に難しいのが「本番アニメーション」。
今まで実装してきたアニメと同じくらいの動きや細かさを持たせたいと思ってるから、
簡単に「サッと描いて終わり！」なんてわけにはいきません。
何度も練習して、試して、アニメを描く技術を上げていくしかない。
最近のバージョンで追加されたアニメは、そのための積み重ねなんです。
それと、ちょっと脱線しますが、
うちは基本的に文字や演出の切り替えでごまかすことはせず、できる限りアニメで見せるという方針を取ってきました。
つまり、「見えないところはプレイヤーの想像に任せます」っていう逃げはしない、
“見えるもの＝存在するもの”っていう体験を大事にしてるんです。
正直、これはかなりクレイジーな選択です。
その分、時間も労力もめちゃくちゃかかります。
でも、うちら以外でこういうことやろうとする人、たぶんほとんどいないんじゃないかなって思ってます。
プレイヤーの中には、「そんなとこまで作り込まなくてもいいでしょ」とか、
「本番じゃないとこばっか凝ってて、なにやってんの？」って思ってる人もいるかもしれません。
でも、創作ってそんなに都合よく、みんなの期待と自分の表現欲が両立できるもんじゃないんです。
理想の作品と、実際に使える時間・体力・スキルとの間には、どうしても埋められないギャップがあります。
だけど、もしその「表現したい」って気持ちを捨ててしまったら、
そこから先に待ってるのは、ただの劣化と崩壊だけなんですよ。
理想に少しでも近づけようとする努力やこだわりって、
その作品にしか出せない感情とか、魅力とかを生み出すために絶対必要なものなんです。
もしそれを捨てたら、残るのは100%う○こだけです。

As for question 2 — contrary to what some people might think,
we’re not intentionally holding back the “main content” to bait players into buying the full version.
The truth is… we just haven’t finished it yet — because it’s genuinely hard to do.
We’re using a hand-drawn animation style, with wide-angle, high-resolution backgrounds.
It’s an extremely challenging approach, and honestly, there’s barely any other game out there we can look to as a reference.
That means nearly every scene and event has to be designed and figured out from scratch. And that takes time — a lot of it.
And among all the animations we need to make, the "main content" scenes are by far the most technically difficult.
If we want them to have the same level of motion detail and polish as the animations we’ve already shown,
we can’t just crank them out — we need to practice, experiment, and level up our animation skills first.
The animations we’ve added in the last few versions are all part of that step-by-step process toward that goal.
On a related note — we’ve made the pretty insane decision to avoid using transitions or just plain text to “fake” content.
We’ve been doing our best to animate as much as possible, so what the player sees is what actually exists.
There’s no “imagine it yourself” moment — it’s all right there, fully visualized.
Honestly?
That approach is incredibly demanding.
It takes a massive amount of time and effort, and we know most teams wouldn’t even consider doing it like this.
And yeah, maybe some players think we’re wasting time or going overboard with the little stuff.
But the truth is, creation doesn’t always let you balance your own artistic drive with everyone else’s expectations.
There’s always a gap — sometimes a huge one — between the game we dream of making and the actual time, skills, and resources we have.
But the moment we stop caring about expression, the moment we give up on chasing something better...
That’s when the soul drains out of the game. That’s when it all starts to rot.
Every little detail we push for — every moment we choose to make "real" — adds emotion, flavor, and charm.
Without that pursuit, what’s left isn’t a game. It’s 100% crap.

关于问题2，和大家想的不一样，我们并不是刻意为了给正式版保留吸引玩家购买游戏的噱头才刻意不更新本番内容，而是因为本番内容确实很难，我们并没有做完。
我们采用了手绘动画这种表现形式，并且在一个广角视角的高精度背景里作画，实际上是挑战难度非常之高的表现形式，你几乎找不到其他可以参考的游戏案例，这也意味着每一个场景和事件的表现形式几乎都需要原创，原创就意味着需要时间设计和修改完善，而在所有动画之中，本番动画又是最难画的，如果我们想画出现在已有的动画有同等的动态细节的本番动画，这不是一件可以自然而然就做到的简单的事情，我们必须经过反复的练习和实验来提高绘制动画的技能水平，而最近几个版本实装的动画已经在一步一步的接近这个目标。
说一些题外话，我们几乎不使用任何的转场和纯文字描述来掩盖内容的匮乏、一直试图把每个场景都用动画表现出来，让玩家获得所见即所得的游玩体验，不需要靠自己想象画面中不存在的内容，这个决定实际上是非常疯狂的。因为这需要消耗掉大量的时间和精力，我想除了我们之外几乎不会有人想这么做。在玩家之中恐怕也会有人觉得我们不务正业，完全没有必要将这些细枝末节也表现出来。
但是创作不是那么随心所欲的，可以满既满足所有人的要求和期望，又满足自己的表达欲。
我们理想的作品，和实际上我们创作的资源和能力，中间存在着一条难以逾越的沟壑，这是事实。可创作者一旦放弃了表达欲，放弃了追求，表现在作品上就是一种一泻千里的溃败和堕落。我们对于接近于理想中作品的表现的每一点努力和追求，都是在给作品注入不可或缺的情绪和趣味性，放弃了这种追求，作品剩下的就是100%的屎。

Pretty much every visual scene in the game went through tons of tweaks and changes before it ended up looking the way it does now. Making everything in the game look natural, polished, and just right takes a crazy amount of work behind the scenes.

たとえアニメ自体が完成してても、
いきなり何の前置きもなくゲームに入れたら、絶対に浮いちゃうし、違和感すごいんですよね。
しかもゲーム性が伴ってなかったら、ただのスライドショーを見せられてるみたいになっちゃう。正直それって楽しくないですよね。
さらに厄介なのが、レイヤーが複雑なうえに4K解像度のアニメをRPGツクールで動かすこと自体が、かなり技術的にキツいってこと。
もし何の最適化もしなかったら、アニメ再生の瞬間にフレームレートが一気に一桁まで落ちて、
まともに見れたもんじゃなくなります。
だから、ちゃんと再生できるようにするために、再生コードを手作業で何度も最適化してるんです。
で、それを全部乗り越えたあとに待ってるのが、一番の山場とも言えるゲームとしての遊び方の設計です。
うちは完全オリジナルの美術スタイルを採用してるので、
よくあるエロゲのシステムをそのまま真似することができません。
多くの作品では「素材が少ないこと」を前提に、
その穴を埋めるようなシステム設計がされていることが多いですが、
うちは“見せること”を前提にした表現スタイルを選んでるので、
そういった「素材がない前提のシステム」をそのまま真似しようとすると、
逆に作業量だけが増えて、全体のバランスを崩すだけなんです。
だからこそ、うちのアニメーションを最大限に活かせる遊び方を、
ちゃんとゼロから設計しなきゃいけないと思ってます。

Even when the animation itself is finished,
we can’t just drop it into the game without any setup — it’d feel super out of place.
And if there’s no gameplay tied to it, all you’d be doing is sitting through it like a slideshow. Not very fun.
On top of that, with all the layered animation and 4K resolution, just getting these scenes to play properly in RPG Maker is a technical challenge on its own.
If we don’t optimize things carefully, frame rates would drop to single digits the moment the animation plays — and that’s obviously not a great experience.
So we’ve had to manually tweak and optimize the code over and over just to make sure these animations can actually run smoothly in-game.
And even after all of that’s done, there’s still the hardest part left: designing gameplay around it.
Because of our completely original art direction, we can’t just copy mechanics from standard eroges.
You’ll notice most H-game systems are made under the assumption that they don’t have much art to work with —
they’re designed to work around the limitations.
But we chose a “what you see is what you get” approach.
Trying to force in systems meant for games with no visual assets would just create friction and waste.
Instead, we need to come up with gameplay that actually works with our animation-heavy style —
something that makes the most of what we’ve drawn, not something that ignores it.

即使动画本身画完了，我们也不可能毫无铺垫的将动画放进游戏里，这会很突兀，而且如果没有适配玩法，你只能像看PPT一样机械的观看动画演出。
甚至因为复杂的动画图层组合加上4k分辨率，想在RPG制作大师里播放这些动画本身就有技术上的挑战，如果不经过任何优化，在播放这些动画的瞬间，大家的帧率会下降到只有个位数，根本无法获得正常的观看体验。我们必须得不断的手动优化播放动画的代码，才能保证这些动画被正常的播放出来。
这一切的困难都克服之后，还有设计玩法的难题在等着我们，由于采用了完全原创的美术表现形式，我们无法简单的模仿常规黄油的玩法，你会发现绝大部分游戏玩法的设计是基于缺乏美术素材的妥协，而我们选择了尽可能所见即所得的美术表现形式，去模仿缺乏美术素材的情况下设计出来玩法只是在增加自己的内耗，我们必须设计出一套能充分结合美术素材特点的玩法。

今年の6月から、実力あるプロの方たちが開発に参加してくれることになりました！
実は去年4月にゲームをリリースした当初は、
今みたいにゲーム全体の構想や複雑さは、ここまで高くなかったんです。
開発を進めていく中で、いろんな面白いアイデアが出てきて、
それによって今の形へとどんどん進化していきました。
でもそのぶん、実装がめちゃくちゃ大変なものも出てきて、
「これはさすがに今のメンバーだけじゃ厳しいな……」って思う部分もありました。
だからこそ、今回しっかりと開発チームの人数とレベルを強化することにしました。

And finally, some good news — starting this June, a few experienced professionals will be joining the development team!
Back when we released the game in April last year, the overall scope and complexity were nowhere near what they are now.
As development went on, we came up with all kinds of fun gameplay ideas, and the game gradually turned into what you see today.
Some of those ideas ended up being pretty tough for us to pull off, though — and that’s why we realized we need to scale up the team in both size and skill.
With more hands (and more talent!) on board, we’re confident that you’ll be seeing even more exciting surprises in the future!

Do not worry, it's probably a small % that do not understand it's difficult and takes time. You're doing great. I just do not understand why the game is in 1080p if you have 4K resolution files to work with? Playing in a smaller window on a 2k monitor or blurry stretched out is kinda annoying in 2025.

I know it's just a game, but reading through this announcement is really inspiring. I recently started my journey of animation and I will share the same philosophy of work. The world needs passionate people doing the difficult things nobody else wants to do or doesn't want it bad enough. This feels like a passion project from talented people and I'm very excited to witness the development and will use it as a source of inspiration for myself to keep going. The quality of your game is incredible and I'm glad you have the resolve to make the best thing you can make. Making the thing that matches the vision in your head. It takes time and dedication. Thank you for being a good example and not compromising your vision. It is very obvious your team is working hard and it shows in the quality.

In my own opinion this pace the team is going is faster compared to other devs in the 18+ circle, and if delays happen I think it’s for the better if it means the game came fleshed out than rushed,. Some people are rather impatient and want things to be rushed, but those same people will complain if it is rushed and ends poorly, I think it’s best to ignore such comments.

The other comments are exactly my thoughts. There will always be people making nonsensical negative comments but you'd be surprised how many people out there can understand the situation and still support you. I've personally seen myself how much effort the team works and I've got nothing but respect to the team. Based from my observations, people here are attracted by the quality of your art and animations, and the gameplay is a bonus on top of it. If that gets jeopardized because of their constant rushing and demands, then it will just hurt the game overall. It's best to ignore those kinds of people. As I've always said, I'd rather see quality come into fruition than rushing everything. You are human beings too, and people should understand that. There is nothing good that will come out if you guys became sick or get burned out of the process. Keep up the great work, NLCH team... and remember to take care of yourselves too!

Honestly, updating a game on a monthly basis is incredibly fast and even though I personally prefer a well made animation and gameplay over rushed content, the quality and speed of the updates has been outside anything compareable so far. I usually test 18+ Games as hobby and download them free, but after seeing the quality and pace of your game I bought it to support you guys and stay updated. Keep up the good work and don't rush yourself too much, you do incredible work.

I think for the amount of effort you and your team put into this game (I can't even remember a triple-A Game i've played in the last year where the developers put that much effort into it), the updates are decently fast especially if you considering that almost every R-18 game is animated... And your game has an incredible HAND DRAWN (!!!) art style which is sooo rare. So pls keep in mind that probably 30% of the players are impatient about the update schedule, but the other 70% are just happy to see a new update.

Wow, that’s a huge amount of work that went into making just the comments for this version lol. Honestly I’ve been shocked at the rate of development since joining. I was expecting teasers and WIP content for months before even a single new demo update came out, but you’ve been pushing out updates constantly and progressing the game far faster than I would have thought possible considering the team size and skill demand in the animations. You guys are doing amazing! Please take care of your creative passion. If development gets painful, take a break, slow down, and recharge so you can maintain the energy you need for it.

This is the fastest updating game I have seen when it comes to 18+ games. Especially with a small team. I found this game backing June of last year and have been following it since. I haven't only ever seen this much content in a game after 3 years of development with what you guys have done in 9 months. Most devs just give up and lose support at this point. There will always be people saying "why is it taking so long blah blah blah" they just need to find something else. There is plenty of other stuff out there.

Take your time, currently your game stands out of the many others. Most of us see the effort and care that's been put into the game, like hand-drawn animations and constant updates. And look at the bright side, people just look forward to it that much, that's why well..It can be anoying to be bombarded with comments why it take so long etc. I just hope you take it well and carry on at your own pace!
