Army nicknames are usually short and sometimes make fun of the soldier, they would probably make fun of his cleanliness and stealth and coming back from the dead with something like "whiskers" cause he's like a cat, if he ever gets a mage nickname it should be long and imposing with "sacarious" if it becomes known he can just make people's hearts disappear

Soldiers are simple direct men. I would not use a Latin name but something simple like Bladeborn, Swiftblade, or Headcracker. These are the handles soldiers give each other.

Probably the fact he is or was the new man he’d be called something like fish as in new fish or red ass or boot or any of the slang for a new man until he’d really. Could call him Boots cause he hauls around everyone’s supplies. Military nicknames are often stupid, somewhat insulting but carry an in joke just for the unit.
