try again - I was just there editing them

Hartman Van Heerden

Chapter 61 - 64 does not open correctly.

Erick Thiemke

Wow, Nicholas has a good grasp on the world! Make sure to point out mistakes I make in naming things. I will update the excel reference file today (warning possible spoilers). I am starting to write early today to get the two chapters done before midnight.

Nicholas Ramage

Duke Tiberius could have both goals at the same time. He could retake Macha and then pressing onto Guiracas (the Bartiradian city over the border). He could leave the investigation in the swamp to a confidant. Do we know of a capable mage commander who might be tomorrow (or in the next days) indebted to Tiberius, perhaps for a exonerating statement? Heck, could Duke Tiberius be Castile's Advocate or sponsor him?

Silver Beard

My money is on being named Tribune Eryk; assuming he can look and act the part.

Silver Beard

And giving up his Expansionist dream?

Nicholas Ramage

Maybe, maybe not. I think it's already too late for an information block. (If the testimony is of any interest to members of the tribunal at all.) In any case, Eryk's statement is in an official document. That's a bucket full of holes. This has passed through the hands of Yaris, Magistrate Aurelia, Castile's Advocate, Castile, the Tribunal (Duchess Veronica, Duke Octavian and Duke Vito). And who knows who else. In his statement to Yanis, Eryk did not mention that "this bit of information" had only been told to him. Survivors of Durandus company may have told some whores in Macha. Mage Sebastian (Durandus brother) may have heard about it on site. The only duke who might be able to officially explore "The City of Giants" would be Duke Tiberius (who is in charge of the province Macha is in). And for that he would first have to expel the Bartiradians (reconquer Macha).

Silver Beard

Keep dreaming. It's more likely he'll be seconded to one of the duke's repertoires to investigate the Giant Ruin sans Castille. They'll do a lot to keep the information from spreading. They could kill him off; but he's just a grunt? Just have him reassigned and word will never get out. I esp note in Chpt 63- he did not tell Konstanian about the Giant City below the swamp he mentioned in his testimony. """Providence""" that.

Nicholas Ramage

Just a thought: There is a certain telhian mage company that now knows Macha pretty well. Perhaps a mission impossible: "Your mission, Castile, should you decide to accept it, is to eliminate the Bartiradian Displacement Mage in Macha. As always, should you or any of your legionnaires be caught or killed, ... "
