I understand it's a plot choice you made and I'm happy to follow the story, but as a fan I had imagined something a little (a lot actually) different. I imagined something like Erik telling about the city, and as part of Castile's punishment he would be assigned to participate in the expedition to unearth the city. In this plot, there would be room to perhaps collect some essences, and even for Erik to have a relapse in his kleptomania when they find some mega rare artifact. But that's the fun of watching a story being written, you kind of try to predict the path of the plot.

I think Eryk could have a better reason for not telling anyone about it. They were just about to start a siege. If he had told anyone about it that might have added a bunch of work and hassle when they already have the siege to deal with. So he could've chosen not to tell about it just to save himself a headache.

And there was an old plot that Eryk would come back and try to dig up the city using his dimensional space. But it felt weak because he did not know what the giant was digging for.

Erick Thiemke

Nope. I believe Durandus only told Eryk. Maybe Eryk told Brutus. I don't remember if me did before the shambling mounds. I think the legion men in Durandus company were in a bit of PTSD after so many were killed and they had to bury them. All the questions about why Durandus attacked seemed to indicate he wanted the storm giants essence. As for Eryk not thinking it was relevant same thing. A buried ruined city…how much value would such a thing had on Earth for him outside of archeologists? It was not actually intentional on my part…I just went back in my writing and it was never revealed so it became a plot point. Blame the writer not the MC

I really like this story, it's one of my favorites. But I have to say, Erik sometimes seems a little autistic. How can he say he didn't know that an underground city that was being excavated by a storm giant and that the wizard Durandus became obsessed with was important? There are some other behaviors of his that make me wonder if he thinks before acting or if everything he does is improvised. One question, how did the subject of the giant city not come up during the mages' interrogation about the events that led to Durandus' death? In addition to Erik, other legionnaires were interrogated that day. No one was curious to know why the giant was digging?

Man, an earthquake to destroy half of a city just to take it, that’s a Genghis Khan level of brutality.

Erick Thiemke

Or whoever knocks the other in the water…but yeah need to edit it. Thanks

Silver Beard

Pretty sure you meant the guy who wasn't knocked in the water would get to take a nap.

Erick Thiemke

The replacements has been edited…she can replace men if she falls under 12. Twelve is the smallest mage company size used for displacement mages in cities. So the author made you hate the elitist First Citizens? Mission accomplished

quick question, anything he can think of with what he has familiarity he can conjure up? he could make some modern appliences and chill out, make a bed and an arlam clock and just sleep in the dreamscape away from any unpleasantries... he was able to conjure Konstantine, he should also be able to make some wet-dreams, which seeing him being in this realm for so long and not having had any sexual encounters so far and being in mortal danger not rarely i think he would try that... yes sounds perverted but in his situation i think he would love some relaxation beyond a bath. I agree that it is a major tool to do training and studying but no matter how focused he is, I also see this as a major opportunity for him to let loose some steam, and get some proper chill time maybe also enjoy some comforts of modern earth appliences... it can be probably help him fight some ptsd and keep him more happy in his somewhat desperate life... or at least not as miserable if something where to happen... hey maybe he would conjure up his crush from highschool or something weird... you know enjoying his time in a lucid dream

.... the level of castile being fucked, and then eryk failing to mention something so important... ugh, how do you even make up for that? smh, how terrible. At this point, I skim any interactions with castile because her life is so destroyed I can't even watch it anymore. I just hate how utterly ruined they made her life. no *supplies*? no replacement men? it's like laming a race horse to recoup the cost of losing a race... that *your kid rigged on purpose*. Couldn't they just put her in massive debt to be paid within the next 10 years? the current punishment is worse than slavery at least you get *supplies* as a slave. Honestly, I'd just lay down and die. or dismiss 9 of my people and do escort missions for the next 13 years. fuck it. why bother struggling to do better if everything will be taken from you? why bother risking your life if you don't even have a collector to make it worth it? fuck'em. why hope for anything when your sentence is arbitrarily increased by 10 years no matter what you do? Honestly, I wish they could redo the end of the last arc and do guerilla warfare in the city. Once it *looks* like the city is fully taken, the army would come retake it. it didn't even take a week, they could have said they were tending to their wounded and it not even be a lie. maybe there's a time spell form for it? he does have 90 something time affinity... at the very least, if he could turn back far enough to tell castile about the city before the tribunal. there's no spellform for regret. ugh.
