Hasten Self then looks like the greatest ability Eric can learn for fighting in this case lol Eric literally can become sonic for twenty seconds

Below I write my thoughts. Well, our hero doesn’t have many choices in this particular case. He has too little ether to fully implement time dilation in battle or something similar. He now has only two options to choose from: Number one “Know Time” is the most practical for Eric in battles. And the second option concerns, of course, not the aging “Ageless” or the similar “Slow Aging”. I will explain the advantages of each option. We only have these three obvious options precisely because of Eric's incredibly weak magical potential. It would take Eric at least ten years to correct the situation with his weak etheric reserve - collecting the powers of the creatures he killed. "Know Time" is the only combat or life-saving ability that will cost virtually no ether to use, and will be more like a passive ability that, in the case of Eric with 90 points, can save lives many times in battle with creatures he has never encountered before . Also, "Know Time" could actually be called "Feeling Lucky" as a synonym. With the "Know Time" ability, which would be active 24 hours a day, it could save Eric's life countless times. For example: If Eric puts on his artifact necklace from the dungeon, then due to the active “Know Time” he would have time to wake up in time when the killers were going to attack him and kill him in his sleep. Thus, Eric would use every night to hone his physical and magical skills in his artifact. In the second option, the most practical ones are “Ageless” and “Slow Aging”, it would seem - everything is obvious here. But I wouldn't say that. If we imagine that Eric would ever be interrogated by the Seekers of Truth and asked him about immortality, then he would be able to agree with them if he chose “Slow Aging” or he would be declassified in the case of “Ageless”. So, as we can see, Eric only has three options to choose from. Eric's Know Time of 90 would potentially save his life several thousand times over the course of his life - and allow him to become incredibly successful in any endeavor while avoiding any dangerous situations. With the Know Time ability, I imagine Eric as an old man who, at 80 years old, has survived countless dangerous situations in dungeons, against incredible monsters, and simply as one of the most skilled fighters in the entire world. But “Slow Aging” and “Ageless” cannot be dismissed because of their incredible attractiveness. I think that the vast majority of people would choose one of these two forms of "immortality" if we were in Eric's place because it opens up hundreds of years for you to practice and study the world. But there’s a problem with this: no one is able to give a guarantee that they won’t try to commit an assassination attempt on Eric and that he won’t be killed in the end when he’s not even 40 years old.

I agree with your words about Hasten Self, I did not underestimate this ability earlier

Fwiw, thinking more about the time essence, the ones folks previously talked about the most were Seize Momentum, Hasten Self, and Ageless. While there are some new ones (flashback in particular may be interesting), 1. Seize Momentum loses to Hasten Self for a few reasons. While there are situational niche uses that are very strong (stopping a cave-in, stopping a siege engine missile, stopping yourself right above the ground after jumping off a cliff), for the most probable life-threatening situation - combat - it is extremely limited. Maybe you can stop a sword a fair number of times, especially if there's nothing fighting your influence, but it would be very draining to stop an opponent themselves given their own resistance. By contrast: 2. Hasten Self should already be strong at 40, and 32x stronger at 90 (2x per 10 levels, iirc so 2^5). As it is a self-buff there is no resistance. He would move so fast, and for so long, that he could likely butcher a few mage companies and a hound detachment all together before they ever realized they were under attack. Which is quite the flex and would make a few really awesome story moments, but is probably not great for the writer as suddenly only a few threats in the entire world remain credible. 3. It really seems like Ageless just wins. It makes the most sense for the really long-term by giving him an extreme long-term existence, during which he will grow endlessly with his real cheat power of tremendous gains from essence. It opens up all possibilities in time (pun ftw!). Also, hardly anyone would ever pass up such an option so the choice feels real, and it doesn't unbalance him like Hasten Self. Flashback is the wild card, but it's a very hard sell to give up potential immortality for any other single functional ability... unless there were different clear paths to immortality that he could map out, possibly involving spell casting later.
