Now there's an interesting thought. Can he practice Alchemy in his Dreamscape? Because that would be really fucking useful if so. Infinite resources to combine potions and salves till he can perfect them? Priceless.

J S

He needs his money from the bet on the competition pool!

Adrian Quisari

ya salio el 126?

Erick Thiemke

I dont want to write spoilers so I wont. Yes, the MC has problems that are going to be difficult to resolve and stay in the legion. The next arc has the company isolated so the ramifications will be in book 4

L Pedersen

That would have always happened though? Castile is his closest confidante, she alone knows that he's from another world, a secret that could get him killed and harvested for essence if she told anyone. Obviously telling her that the has the amulet isn't a big deal but denying it publicly would have salvaged the situation from "never sleep peacefully ever again" to "dealing messily with Boris, his mother, the stupid girl who started all of this". Boris is a spoiled little shit and used to getting what he wants, even if Eryk denied it he wouldn't let it go, he'd pursue it even if he was convinced Lareen lied to him just to spite his mother and sister who tried to get in his way. So yeah, I'm all for Eryk learning to not trust women (Or anyone really, he shouldn't trust anyone at all except Castile and maybe not even her. Maybe his goliath friend in the future, he doesn't seem to have an agenda). And getting closer to Castile also seems like a good idea and it isn't like this is the first First Citizen to make trouble for Eryk, it's happened many times. But yeah, I'm all for the outcome but the juice isn't worth the squeeze, his secret becoming public knowledge to teach him not to trust strangers and that First Citizens suck and want to steal your shit? The reason this bothers me so much is that resolving this in any manner that doesn't end up with Eryk really fucking dead will stretch my already very strained suspension of disbelief. Maybe that's the point, maybe this will be the thing that will let him fake his death and take a hike in another 100 chapter or so but then the question becomes how will Eryk pull that off?

Erick Thiemke

it was a tough call but Eryk's luck was running too high for too long. something had to break. As the writer, this allows me to give the MC two personality traits - not trusting women in the future and forcing him closer to Castile with their shared hatred of First Citzens.

L Pedersen

Hey here's an idea. Why couldn't Eryk just play dumb? He's really good at that so it wouldn't be hard for him to pretend he has no idea what a dreamscape amulet is. Much like Mateo in fact. See at this point Boris only knows because Lareen is a little shit acting like she's a jilted teenager who will make solemn promises in the moment that will be forgotten once she gets a little bit mad. But yeah, it's the word of a silly little girl of a servant against Eryks, why couldn't he just say "I have no idea what you're talking about" It may not have solved his problems concerning knowledge about the amulet, that would have required disappearing the girl before it became known that she knew sensitive information. Now though if he tracks her down and stabs the shit out of her for breaking her word and painting a target on his back, suspiscion will fall on him, even if she vanishes into his storage. I don't know, I think I would have prefered the original version of this with Boris trying to blackmail him. At least then things could have been resolved, many heads could have rolled and Eryk might have for once learned from his mistakes, the resulting inquest into the missing Boris and servant girl would have also made for plot. But now he can't take this back. The word is out and that amulet will be an anchor around his neck until he can stage his own death and get the hell out of dodge. And only the greatest of all idiots would think of using the amulet now since that would obviously be when the assassin would strike and take it from his dead body.

L Pedersen

Why? Why would Eryk let anyone use it? What could he possibly stand to gain from that? There are only negative outcomes from that choice and any fool can see it. Except the biggest fool of them all, Eryk. If one of the guys in my company wants to borrow my increadibly expensive tool because he wants to use it to jerk off with, I'd tell him no.

Stephen Pearson

Um. Presumably the amulet has high fidelity understanding of it's users. So letting anyone at all use it is a terrible idea, as they can merely ask Eryk-in-amulet all of Eryk's capabilities and secrets and he will simply tell them. At the very least he would have to accompany every user to prevent this, and he should tell them that the inverse applies - all of their secrets will be his whenever he wants them if they ever use the amulet.

Erick Thiemke

definately - but not until book 4

Cameron C

Geeze. This is going to bite him in the ass

Silver Beard

He needs to clear out his pet and study materials; the combatants can stay. Too bad he can't force everyone who tries to use it to win through all of them first.

Erick Thiemke

I was writing Mateo as the comedic relief…. I also think at this point Eryk plans to let anyone use it. And if he does he needs to clear out the space

Matthew Bernardin

Eryk needs to grow a pair and tell Mateo no. Not weasily maybe's but no. This kind of shit is what leads to companies falling apart in the army. One bloke gets a tv, second bloke really likes it and becomes a pain in the arse over it until he thinks it should be HIS and because the first soldier didn't nip that crap in the bud then the second soldier breaks into his barracks and steals it. Now there's a significant rift in the company and there's bad blood and then that goes out on deployment no matter how hard you try not to. Unless that's where your sending this, but seriously please don't. Please have Eryk just grow a pair instead. Mateo probably wants it due to the whole "fuck any woman you've ever met" that Boris said about. Have him honestly tell Mateo, no I don't use it to get laid. I use it to train and you don't have aether. It's my amulet, I bled for it and I say no.

Silver Beard

Should give up the dagger runic blade to Castille- it was meant for matriarch's then if there's any resistance to use- Castille will have the least resistance. Plus popping up with a 2nd runic blade will not be karma he has to face down the road. Toss up whether he should be the Scholar's body-guard or not. His runic blade should be at the for-front; but the Scholar likes him and so far he's been the only one who invites his company. The others will likely welcome his demise just to shut him up! Lol

Erick Thiemke

corrected, thanks!
