An Incubus Life Update 7/23/24
🕑 Added 2024-07-23 20:45:12 +0000 UTCTonight, I plan to post both a World Sphere chapter and A Soldier Chapter for Seraphim. I just finished 8 hours of audio editing and have a half-chapter written for both so I hope to post one in a few hours and then the other a few hours later.
So - An Incubus Life Update: There are only about three chapters left for book 2 of this story. As fans of the story may have noticed, I have struggled with writing the recent chapters. Just 4 in the last two months.
To be up front, A Soldier's Life has been the priority due to its popularity. Not just working to add four chapters a week to Soldier for the Seraphim subscribers but also publishing the books and audiobook on Amazon to avoid them from being pirated.
Being a one-man show it took me over 20 hours to review the editor's notes and do a final edit of book 2, another 8 hours to format and finish the cover for the paperback and hardcover. Now I am reviewing the audiobook, and I am over 20 hours in (only on chapter 36/60 after two days) as I have to catch the mistakes the voice actor makes and pick up errors the editing process missed. Good news so far is I only found 5 editing errors but over sixty voice actor errors. The audiobook should be done in two days and then another day for ACX to approve it after I pay the voice actor.
So where does this leave the fans of An Inicubus Life? Much in the same state that Town Builder was in for a time. For those of you who remember, I got to the end of the first book of Town Builder and found my creativity for that story stifled --so I started working on A Soldiers Life for a bit -- look how that turned out. It took me almost 9 months before I returned to Town Builder, and that started with a read edit of the first 48 chapters before continuing the story.
I will complete book 2 of An Incubus Life...I just feel overwhelmed at the moment. There is an outline for book 3, but I will not start that until after I have published The First World Sphere: Book 1. Yes, The First World Sphere is going to be published after a heavy edit (I am getting help on the edit). No plot changes planned, just smoothing out the writing, adding color and mechanics. I am still going to be adding to the current World Sphere story, though. Another chapter tonight.

I am here for Soldiers life, but have read all your works. Incubus was ok, but kinda lost its inspiration at the tail end. Some time away might help drive a focused finale to that story.

thanks for the positive feedback. dont forget about the 11 other stories at the bottom of the chapter release page. some have not been given over to grammarly yet but some of those stories have over 300 pages as well

Just giving you my personal opinion. Less opinion and more optimism really. I subbed a few months ago starting by reading A soldiers Life and loved it, so much so I NEEDED to spend 20 bucks a month to stay up to date. And that's just for 1 of your stories. Then I saw your others and started Space Engineer, then The World Spheres (get a heavy Septerra Core feel from this btw) and loved all of it. Saw when Town Builder started and took me a while to get into it but once I hit chapter 20 I was hooked. I have consistently read every chapter once it comes out and find myself refreshing patreon to make sure I haven't missed a chapter because of their stupid notification setup. The only thing I haven't read is Incubus Life but only because I just haven't started it yet. All your stuff has been awesome, so don't feel as if the others are less important or not as worth handling because they aren't as popular as A Soldiers Life. Now this part is my opinion. I could care less if these come out in audio book form. I find it puts alot of undue stress on writers for what I think is not alot of benefit. Take this with a grain of salt though, I just like reading.

My favorite story by you is First World Sphere. Second is Soldiers life so all good from my point of view.

Take your time with it if needed, I don't know about anyone else but I prefer a good read even if it takes time to write it, over a rushed book that is not what the author truly envisioned

Don't worry about it, man, shit happens. That is how life works. We don't have an infinite amount of time and energy, and so we have to decide on our priorities. You made a good decision "A Soliders Life" is more important currently, it brings you more money and we all gotta eat at the end of the day. I am sure all here understand that. Just don't forget to change the subscription plan.
