A Soldiers Life POV Chapter Vote
🕑 Added 2024-11-12 02:19:24 +0000 UTCI was not going to do another one for Book 5, but Book 5 is going to run longer than expected. I have been targeting 60 chapters per book, but I am expecting book 5 to be 70ish chapters.
For those of you new to my page, almost every POV chapter in the story was voted on by patrons on Patreon. It sounds like a weird thing for me to do, but the story is written as a web serial, so it made sense at the time.
It has also shaped the story! Did you know Raelia was supposed to die at the end of book one? She was a pocket fireball to save his bacon, and that was it. Yet she has appeared in books 2, 3, and now 5 because you keep bringing her back! Too late now to change my mind--she is part of the larger story. So, below are your five choices for the next POV.
NOTE: there is already a POV for Renna coming in the epilogue of book 5.

I think those two elements would be good for the story. Maybe a surprise saving by Konstantine. A bit more weakness of Eryk’s character despite his high stats. I am In love with this series.

I loved raelia in the beginning, but feel like she has lost some of her spotlight by just being a love interest now. She has no real goal anymore. She should get a new goal

i suggested loading goblin bro up with essences before. my new idea is to train up a goblin crew to be kept in storage and be unleashed as needed

having a zorana pov would help solidify the reason they went to the caliphate. as in it would stop all the complaints in the comments that eryk is letting himself get played by the clerics.

Although I like Konstantin a lot, at this point in the story we should see something more consistent, I vote for Raelia and her romantic development (very important for the continuity of her character development) or have a Pov of Mynasha, we know literally nothing about her and her first impressions were terrible, a POV showing a little about her is crucial to at least understand and care at least a little about her. Konstantin is nice, but he can wait

I am not a fan of them dying. They have already been whittled down as is. The group needs to either grow before they get whacked in the number department again or MC goes his separate way for a little bit. I definitely don’t want to see anyone in the group go. But this all up to the author and we are along for the ride.

While I want Kon to win for book 5 the orcs pov is probably a better fit. Specifically if any of them end up a permanent party member.

Personally I love the raelia development. One of the few enemy to friend stories I've seen that takes its time in a very reasonable way, world building and development through her, great interactions with side characters, and doesn't feel shoehorned at all. A lot of characters have died but I'm fingers crossed that her and few of the current band actually die - I really enjoy the mercenary/adventure company feeling going on that keeps the soldier life feeling going. Edit: that they don't die

Excited for any of the choices. I picked zorana because I feel it will be some time till we actually get to her. Will also give the opportunity to tease some info around the warlord the MC will have to deal with.
