Maveith can use the collector equally well, as he can channel aether. If Eryk was seriously trying to conceal his pattern of sending Glasha away, he could easily have been the one out of the room with her half the time to make the pattern more obscured. I do like that he finally used his smoke bombs with some cleverness, that was a welcome touch. Candidly, he should also have an 11x11x11 foot steel welded cage frame, one inch thick, in his dimensional space, since his ability goes by mass/volume and popping it in and out would take less than 5% of his aether, being only a fraction of his dimensional volume. Inch thick steel bars would block all melee threats effectively, while letting him or his party shoot arrows through the bars, or letting him bottom out his aether for a kill and safely regen while protected in a steel cage to repeat. Clever ability use is always welcome, he has a lot of untried angles at his disposal. x10 so once his party knows his scope and can advise and assist him.

The orc adventurers suddenly accepted us and ❌[we] didn’t need to pay for drinks that night. Glasha seemed to think Mynasha would arrive late this evening, so we waited and waited. The cleric who eventually entered the Adventurers ❌[Hall] after midnight ❌[was] struggling to walk. Corrected version: The orc adventurers suddenly accepted us, and we didn’t need to pay for drinks that night. Glasha seemed to think Mynasha would arrive late this evening, so we waited and waited. The cleric who eventually entered the Adventurers’ Hall after midnight was struggling to walk.

Erick Thiemke

different cleric. there were multiple ones in the fleet. but yes the insects were spying on him

Lazarius

He can’t change it now -> he will improve it in the futur 🧐

i like how eryk has integrated into the world and there arent non stop mentions of earth. other stories where the first thing the protagonist does is make guns and exploit their knowledge of science get annoying fairly quick. itd be very entertaining if the otherworlder he meets is a human not from earth. either they are from a world that has forgotten earth or one where the human culture stagnated and is a snapshot of the 1700s. or they are some other type anachronistic character

while black powder is *relatively* easy to make - one first requires knowledge of the ingredients and proper mix ratio. this knowledge is *very* uncommon. Eryk has made no reference to being a survivalist buff or black powder enthusiast which are the most likely ways to come across such knowledge.(still possible he's seen it but unlikely) even with this knowledge it's more likely to build the equivalent of a single shot shotgun/blunderbuss than something useful on a large scale. far too much heavily specialized knowledge goes into making modern firearms that Eryk's background would not explain.

Erick Thiemke

gun powder is unstable. it may eventually get mentioned in the story when he encountaers another outworlder

Erick Thiemke

it is just a lesser form of the spell form from the Hounds goggles artifact. he cant change it now, just increase its range. the only real negative is that it does not show a spectrum of colors

Salvo

There have been a couple active uses of Eryk illusion spell form, but previously he mentioned it wasn’t complete, so is it just night vision or more than that?

TheAlreds90

There's way to much knowledge needed to build any sort of gun. From an average joe perspective I wouldn't know what goes into making explosive powder or designing something that wouldnt just blow up. Maybe with the dreamscape amulet but then there's a lot of intricate metal work needed. My guess is a magical bow would be better 9 out of 10 times.

Jon

Idk if this has been brought up before, but is E planning on making guns? It doesn’t have to be machine guns right away but at least a crude one would be more lethal than a bow. Especially now that he has contracted with igris he might have time to experiment

Chachi

eryk should maximize his payment if he accepts considering he doesn’t need this job. should put the cleric in her place

PatronTurtle

Not the Roc. There was insects being controlled from the ships. I thought she was the one controlling and would be able to see through them

Reading these fights I can't help thinking how ridiculously strong the group would be if castile, konstantin and if mateo were a little more competent, they would genuinely be an extremely lethal elite shock troop. This brings me to my question, will castile venture back and join eryk's group? It seems that the character wants to settle down and heal her body is just a gesture of friendship, konstantin obviously will( is that shapeshifter following konstatin or have they split up? Depending on that, she might join in as well. As for Mateo, let's hope he learns to be wiser or he'll die or doom everyone.

daniel dantas

Bad first impression, I don't understand this arrogance, it's SHE who needs help, why does she talk as if they need her more than the other way around? Frankly this seems like a red flag in so many ways, especially with raelia warning of the ease with which clerics tend to interpret their own words as they see fit, I don't know, even with glasha being nice, I don't feel comfortable with orcs, ironically I prefer the roman empire to this foreign land (there it was easy to tell who was friend or foe, because as humans, it's easy to discern their psyche, now orc clerics? Not good

daniel dantas

I thought mateo's blade was more special, I mean, cutting magic is incredible, but it doesn't seem practical, you need armor to mitigate the residual damage from a fire bolt for example, it seems like it's only good in specific situations (Or am I failing to see its true value?).

Jordan

Thanks for the clarification!

Erick Thiemke

I removed that text and decided to have the MC keep it secret, or at least try to

Mark Corwin

I understood that she saw the collector too. They had a discussion on the number in the Orcish territory after she saw it...or maybe I am mistaken.

Erick Thiemke

All spell are made up of layers of spell forms. You can inscribe those spell forms on your aether core and cast the spell by running aether through them. True spells are inscribing the spells with aether in the air. So you can cast any spell instead of just the one per affinity on the core

Erick Thiemke

No the roc was the warlord

Erick Thiemke

Yes someone got the reference

Erick Thiemke

No it was written out

Mason W

“Sweep the Leg” “Do you have a problem with that!” “No Sensei…”

Ivan Kanewske

She saw the collector in the first room?? Right? Why are you hiding it a few chapters later??

Andrew

Thank you!

PatronTurtle

Wasn't she using animals to spy on E when he last saw her? Will she not recognize him?

Jordan

Can you remind me about what an inscribed spell is. I’m only recalling ‘true spells’ and ‘spell forms’ as types of spells. Thanks
