From what I've seen from the MC thus far, the short sword was one of the last weapons I thought he'd choose. If I had to make an assumption... then I assume a lot of what became Eryk came from this novel as his love for bathing and the use of a short sword is pretty much the exact same, not to mention some of his habits. With how weary the MC seemed with combat in general, I thought he'd choose the spear as it would allow him to kill from further back, as well as the fact that anyone who's been on the internet long enough knows that the spear is the easiest weapon to learn. Whether that is true or not, I don't know but it has become somewhat commonplace to see. Polearms are my favorite weapons in general so I'm a little biased, but short swords don't really make sense as it forces the MC to become extremely close to his foe... even closer than the longsword his brother chose. Maybe he just chose the short sword because he had a dagger, who knows but I personally thought it didn't make all that much sense. With his opposition to combat, I thought he'd see the length of a short sword and say "f*ck that!"

Any time money is created in a small community there will be inflation. As the supply of coins increases there value will decrease. If you have a infinite amount of a item eventually it will be worthless as the supply will out weigh the demand. While Storm may enjoy a few years of wealth eventually people will be paying $22.50 for a hot coffee at Dunkin donuts.....

There is no inflation as gold and platinum have value. Later in the story it is reveled gold is used for runes and is burned up over time. Platinum as well, just mithril and adamantine are conserved in devices but there is a huge market for them. As to the age mind set I try to be consistent but the story has gone through a number of rewrites

I feel like my questions have little to do with the story. Is there a reason Storm goes for adult mind to kid mind so much? He thinks like both depending on what he is doing. How does he deal with inflation? Each coin he makes and uses devalues the overall currency by a %. This is why counterfeit money which is essentially what this is hunted down.
