Marriage Poll

Marriage can be a time-consuming topic to get right, particularly when it comes to a life simulation game like AW. The real question is what all of you want out of marriage in AW, or if you even want it at all. The more time we spend on the mundane parts of marriage, the less time we'll have for more... adult interactions with romantic partners.
We've broken down the options into three broad strategies:
A) Avoid marriage altogether. Get engaged and probably move in together, but have the actual wedding occur after the end of the main story. This is the least time consuming option.
B) Have a wedding ceremony at a church or town hall with a dress and guests, move in together, but otherwise nothing special in terms of being married. This is the option for those of you who like the ceremony but don't care much about an involved marriage.
C) Have a basic ceremony that doesn't go into much depth, but spend some extra time defining a more marriage-like living situation after marriage. We want to avoid adding too much micromanaging, but the goal would be for a more serious relationship. This probably wouldn't add much erotic content... it's marriage, after all. ;)
D) Whole Hog - have a wedding ceremony and expanded relationship after getting married. Obviously, this is the most time-consuming option, so we may need to cut back elsewhere to get it done.

Regardless of the results of the poll the final decision of what to add is yours. Personally I think that if you include a basic marriage system with a strong foundation, that you can improve upon how you choose, you'll be better off. Spending time on "mundane" parts rather than the adult content is necessary but the amount of time you spend could take the game in different directions. How much depth is there supposed to be in this game? For a life game probably a lot, so ultimately it needs to be there in some extent. I think you should put max effort into the first 1/3 of creating a really good marriage system, then good effort into the next 1/3, and little effort in the final 1/3 with the intent of going back later to really make it good. This gives a lot more freedom and I hope would keep everyone happy

I'd argue that it's more effort than it's worth to go for everything. For people who are in it for the sex content, it's a huge waste.
Voted B. The actual ceremony is most of the fun of marriage after all. Plus a more in depth ceremony allows for more... Interesting weddings. Getting married in the nude perhaps, or consumating the marriage right in the hall (needless to say yes I did play a certain other TF game with those events). Actual married life could come later down the line, but it's gonna have to be done eventually I think. TLDR a one off wedding event for now would be great, with the more in-depth married life later once more of the core systems are perfected.

I love the idea of having the dress and all the wedding silliness, perhaps because I never had that part myself, but I imagine producing flexible marriage mechanics afterward would be very difficult, and the ceremony would tend to accentuate how little changed unless there was a great deal of effort poured into those mechanics. So, I went with “avoid”. Yet, marriage is very much to my taste, so good marriage mechanics, if they could be achieved under “whole hog”, would be stunning. It just seems like such a mountain of work to me that it would better be a future expansion or something of that nature.
