Articulated Baby Peacock (July Design)
🕑 Added 2023-07-05 19:38:30 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
I hope you are all doing great. I'm happy to share our new design, the Baby Peacock, with all of you. It was a pretty interesting project to work on, and the tail mechanism was a lot of fun.
The head is a snap fit, while the tail needs to be glued to the body using Super Glue.
Here are the basic settings I used on my printer:
- Layer height: 0.16mm
- Wall count: 3
- Brim (only on the head and body)
- Infill: 16% Gyroid
- PLA Works Well
- Supports are not required
- Do not Down Scale
I hope you enjoy this design and feel free to share these images in Facebook groups mentioning the Artflex Patreon page. Thank you!

Hi, can you please send me images on IG
I’m having issues with the neck snapping when I put the head on, anyone else?
I have printed on k1 and p1p at 100% scale and it is working fine, will test on ender 3 as well, let's see how this model performe on that printer.

Couldve been my layer height as well

Yes it was on bambu I may be able to pop them loose with some force but didn't want to break it and was happy with them standing
Fussed layers on tail feathers at 70% Scale?
Dustie Chase
i had this issue but i sized it down to 70 but for me it looks cute with the feathers fluffed up

I have a bambu so the leveling is all automatic or did you raise it through the slicer?
Noel Brooks
All I did was make sure I wasn’t very close to the build plate. I had to good of a smoosh the first time. Can’t shrink it down at all either.
Cris Shank
I'm having this same issue and I'm not using a brim. Can you please tell me what you did to fix it?
Noel Brooks
It was for sure a me issue. I fixed it and have a perfect print of the tail now. :) thank you. This little guy is super cute.

I will check the gap sockets. I’m sure it is something on my end. I had to replace a few things on this printer just recently and I don’t have my calibrations set exactly how it should be just yet.
I have tried to make the Gap in sockets balanced not too loose not too tight, If I increase the joint gap there is a possibility that the tail feathers will pop out. I suggest you cross-check if your printer is not over-extruding. also, avoid using brim on tail feathers instead use rafts.
Noel Brooks
Super cute. I keep getting the tail feathers fusing at the joint. I’m hoping that is a me issue. I might have too good of a smoosh. But I do love the print.
Laying Layers
I just printed this beauty at 90% and it came out perfect!
Not yet :(

do you have an owl or phoenix by chance?
Scaling down is not recommended, Apologies I missed mentioning this.
Can this be scaled down?
Thank you for Subscribing to Artflex :) I have used Tri Extrusion filament on Body+Face and Isanmate rainbow on the Tail+Wings+Face pattern and another 2 single colors was used on eyes, legs, and beak :D
